Critic reviews

"There is zombie fiction and then there is crawl-out-of-the-grave-and-drag-you-to-hell zombie fiction. Day by Day Armageddon is hands down the best zombie book I have ever read. Dawn of the Dead meets 28 Days Later doesn't even come close to describing how fantastic this thriller is. It is so real, so terrifying, and so well written that I slept with not one, but two loaded Glocks under my pillow for weeks afterwards. J. L. Bourne is the new king of hardcore zombie action!" (Brad Thor, New York Times #1 best-selling author)

Thrilling zombie novel, well thought out.

What made the experience of listening to Day By Day Armageddon the most enjoyable?

The content, story line.

What other book might you compare Day By Day Armageddon to and why?

The Morning Star Strain books by Z A Recht.

Did Jay Snyder do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

He was okay, his voice didn't really take on the character differentiation aspect I've come to appreciate in other readers.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

In a post apocalyptic world, the survivors struggle against all odds to survive.

Simply Great!

One of the best Audible books I've listened to thus far. Will definitely listen to the rest of the series.

I compare all others to this series

Outstanding series, you will not be disappointed. First person brilliance of the day by day survival of a zombie filled world. No gimmicks, fast zombies or "Come on, really?" story lines just a solid account of what I expect a zombie story to be.

Good, but way too short...

I enjoyed this book, I like new zombie/vampire/end-of-the-world offerings from various authors and this book filled my need to have yet another book in my collection offering this type of fare. I liked the journal style of writing the author used and found he had some ideas about the end of civilization that I hadn't thought about. The reader also did a very good job.

However, I only gave it 3 stars because it was way too short; I think the author must have written it on a napkin while eating dinner. I feel like I wasted a credit and should have waited for one of Audible's promotions. For this reason, I can't recommend the book. I do have the sequel on my wish list and will wait for the right opportunity to buy it.

Luv the zombie books!

What made the experience of listening to Day By Day Armageddon the most enjoyable?

The narrator's voice is easy to listen to. He does a great job of sounding like other people in the story. I luv all the zombie stories so I bought this just because. but I truly enjoyed the entire story. I like listening to how the people are going to get away from the zombies and how their "adventure" goes. It's like having a TV in my mind while I'm listening to the narrator.

Any additional comments?

I like listening to books because I'm disabled so sitting here all day long doing nothing is usually boring. One can only watch so much TV. so I like lying here listening to the stories as I can close my eyes and just picture all the action in my mind. It sure does give me an adventure I would never be able to go on by myself! I luv audible.com for all the "vacations" it takes me on!

Refreshing point of view

What did you love best about Day By Day Armageddon?

I like the fact that you got the viewpoint of one person in what was a logical, reasonable accounting of how the ZA would happen.

What other book might you compare Day By Day Armageddon to and why?

Not sure

Have you listened to any of Jay Snyder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not. I liked how he didn't make the narration overly dramatic.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. It was just a great story that was told well.

Any additional comments?

Better than most zombie books.

Good Story, lackluster performance

Would you consider the audio edition of Day By Day Armageddon to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version

Who was your favorite character and why?

John the engineer, primarily because my step father's name is john and he is an engineer.

What aspect of Jay Snyder’s performance would you have changed?

I think he needs a bit more enthusiasm. His reading was a bit monotone. I understand it's supposed to be read from a diary, but there are some very exciting events that occur. They need to be read with an underlying fear I think. He does a good job later in the book really having some emotions that back the character, but in the beginning it was just slow.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

How do you survive Armageddon? DAY BY DAY

Any additional comments?

Overall it was a good zombie novel. I enjoyed the take on the genre.

Great material, terrible narrator

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I really enjoyed the book itself, it was well written and exciting

Who was your favorite character and why?

The diary author is the obvious choice, however the Zombies are fantastic as well.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator was my only issue with this book. He over enuciates everything, all the swears lose their intensity, his impressions of women and girls are god awful, there was no semblance of emotion in his drab, annoying and boring voice. I really wish I had purchased the paperback instead.

Was Day By Day Armageddon worth the listening time?

Lets get down to brasstax here, I keep harping on the same cottonpicken' thing. Great book, terrible narrator.

Allright

It's allright, but the characters lack depth. Worth a read if you love zombies and apocalypses.
