Publisher's summary

A rumor has persisted in the vampire world of a dark slayer - a woman - who travels with a wolf pack and who destroys any vampire who crosses her path. Mysterious, elusive and seemingly impossible to kill, she is the one hunter who strikes terror into the hearts of the undead.

She is Ivory Malinov. Her only brethren, the wolves. Long ago betrayed by her people, abandoned by her family, and cast out by everyone she held dear, Ivory has lived centuries without companionship or love. She has sustained her sanity by preparing for one purpose - to destroy her greatest enemy. Until the night she picks up the scent of a man, her unexpected salvation. Her lifemate. The curse of all Carpathian women.

He is Razvan. Branded a criminal, detested and feared, he is a dragonseeker borne of one of the greatest Carpathian lineages, only to be raised as its most despised - and captive - enemy. Fleeing from his lifetime of imprisonment, Razvan now seeks the dawn to end his terrible existence. Instead he has found his deliverance in the Dark Slayer.

In spirit, in flesh and blood, in love, and in war, Ivory and Razvan are made for each other.

For as long as they dare to live.

Loved the book, but...

I purchased this book on its release date. I also happened to have an extra credit, so I downloaded this audiobook. I read about three-fourths of the book, and listened to rest. I loved the book, the advancement and interaction of the characters. It finally answers a lot of questions and brings resolution to some problems that Christine Feehan has been leading up to for several books. There were some very creative and new concepts in this book that I really liked. Overall, I'd give the book five stars. I've listened to these narrators do the past couple of Dark Series books and really enjoyed them. However, the female narrator's accent in this one totally cracked me up (she reminded me a bit of Steve Martin's "wild and crazy guy" character). I'm glad I didn't rely totally on the audiobook to gauge whether or not I liked the book. If you can get past the silly accent and have liked past Carpathian novels, I think you'll enjoy Dark Slayer.

My favorite CF book

I love this novel. Here are my reasons.
1. Ivory, the main female character, is incredibly powerful
2. Her lifemate, Razvan, loves, respects, and supports her power.
3. They bring different but equally important things to their relationship.
4. There are very developed plots not at all dependent on the sex.
5. There are fewer sex scenes than in some of her books, which is what I prefer.
6. We get to see many familiar characters from other novels.
7. There is humor, vulnerability, and true depth of emotion.
8. The female and male narrators on the Audible version are fabulous!

Fantastic!!!

The best word to describe this book is itense. The story is permeated by tension, but at the same time, gives to the listener ab amazing geelling of
something big will happen any time, and evething will change. The book is very, very good, one of my favorites on this series. Razvan and Ivory are two warriors with strong personality, and because this, sometimes are stubborn.
About the narrative, I liked a lot… The narrators have an adequate voice intonation that helps understand the fellings of each character.

Awesome!

Great storytelling and wonderful narrators. I really enjoyed the pace of the story and the slow build to the romance. Also loved how the heroine is not completely reliant on the hero to save her. I love strong heroines and Feehan came through big time!

Best narration ever!!!!

Would you listen to Dark Slayer again? Why?

I already have. The story tellers are amazing. You believe they are the characters.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything was pronounced correctly. I didn't have to keep correcting the readers in my mind.

Which character – as performed by Phil Gigante and Jane Brown – was your favorite?

All of them, they are fantastic.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was caught up from page one.

Any additional comments?

Keep these two readers, I have never enjoyed a story so much. I will look for more with this duo.
