Publisher's summary

New York goes dark in the dead of winter…
A terrifying mystery begins…
But who is the enemy?

Sometimes the worst storms aren’t from Mother Nature, and sometimes the worst nightmares aren’t the ones in our heads.

Mike Mitchell, an average New Yorker already struggling to keep his family together, suddenly finds himself fighting just to keep them alive when an increasingly bizarre string of disasters starts appearing on the world’s news networks. As both the real world and the cyberworld come crashing down, bending perception and reality, a monster snowstorm cuts New York off from the world, turning it into a wintry tomb where nothing is what it seems.

Anyone who enjoys insightful, cutting-edge fiction mixed with action and adventure won’t want to miss CyberStorm.

Hauntingly Realistic

Good storyline. Characters are well developed with just enough interpersonal drama to tug at your emotions. Well written and well narrated.

Great story with twist ending

Oddly, I listened to this book centered around a blackout while sitting in a storm-related blackout in Michigan. Great way to pass time.

Beautiful story

A beautiful story of survival during societal collapse. A great caste of characters banding together to get through a tragedy. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Entertaining Enough

I enjoy a P/A story and have read some good ones. This wasn't among the best. I am always attracted to stories that show us how successful survivors managed; early choices they made and the mistakes that could not have been predicted. I did like the wrap up and the cautionary perspective. And an interesting observation that only ten years after it was released, the info already feels dated.
I sped up the narration to 1.4

too clueless

The characters are clueless to their environment. Too much luck is involved for their survival.

Boring

The reader was fine. But the sorry was so slow. The mystery was not worthy of a reveal at the end of the book. The characters were naive, whiny and then stupidly brave. I did not stop listening nor return the book which I do without hesitation if I find a terrible read. Thus it gets a milk toast rating.

Great Book!!

This is the first book that I have ever read (well, listened to) for fun. I definitely enjoyed it, constantly wondering what would happen next and always itching to get back to listening to it. I still have vivid images in my mind of particular parts of the story that are definitely going to stick with me for some time. The story wasn't absolutely perfect, but still well deserving of a 5 start rating. I felt that certain parts of the story were somewhat predictable, but for the vast majority of the book, I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The only problem I had at all was that the narration of a couple of the characters (Tony and Damen and also the wives of Chuck and the main character) were indistinguishable to me. I didn't focus too much on remembering the names of the characters (as you can see by me not knowing the main character's name haha) and relied mostly on the voices given by the narrator, so when the voices sounded too similar, I was a little confused in some instances. It really wasn't that huge of a deal, though.

The bottom line is that you will like this book! Give it a listen or buy the hard copy. You won't regret it.

Storm of Different Proportions

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably not a book I would suggest to a friend. Theme of the book was interesting and certainly appropriate in todays political climate. But the story took to many side excursions that added little value to the overall message. Narration wasn't very complimentary to the books storyline. I have listened and read many books in this area and this would be a late recommendation if at all.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Sedition by Tom Abrahams or Days of Elijah by Mark Goodwin. Both authors have themes that are easy reads and move you through the themes with very little side tracks. Their narrator Kevin Pierce is a personal favorite

How could the performance have been better?

Different narrator may have helped.

Very chilling premise

Great story but I think it drug a little toward the end. The premise is very realistic and now I am questioning my preparedness. This was truly the "perfect storm" of disasters
