Publisher's summary

Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack...and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she'd learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country will recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.

Alpha and Omega

I am glad I read the short story, Alpha and Omega before this. it made much more sense than jumping in here first.
My only real complaint is that the narrator should have been given the pronunciations of Bram's title based on the Mercy books. I kept correcting it in my head every time he said it.
Looking forward to book two.

Great Story

I loved this story. I have not read Briggs before. She tells a great story. Of course it could also be that Holter Graham is the narrator. I love most his voice.

good listen

This book was engaging and Holter did a great job - I love him as a narrator and actually chose this book based on him being the narrator.

The story was engaging and lively. The characters were well developed and I could see them ending up together. I'd recommend this audiobook.

Great Series, It has a companion novel

The beginning of the series really is the novella Alpha and Omega. The series is much better with the novella because the base for why Anna is the way she is. This is my first Briggs reading experience and I love this series!

Great book, wrong narrator

So I do love this book, it’s the only reason I got it and was able to listen to the whole thing (even while cringing). The narrator is good but the wrong one for this series. And his voice for Charles (the main male protagonist) is AWFUL and very colored by old westerns with that horrid “indian” accent. God it was painful to listen to him speak Charles’s lines........also it really is a book geared more toward women and it’s just weird having a male narrator.

A great book to listen to

I originally read this when it came out as a paperback. I enjoyed listening to it and reading the Kindle book very much!
This is one of my favorite series! It was great going back to beginning of it and re-living how it started. I highly recommend the Audible book if you’re a fan of the series.

Love this book!

First, I happened upon this book several years ago at a library. I loved it so much I bought the hard covered copy and read it more than once. As my reading vision has been fading slowly, I bought it in Kindle version so I could raise the font. I've read and collected the whole series as well as the "Mercy" books too. So now that I use audio books almost exclusively, I've found that I love it this way too!
I think Patricia Briggs paterned Charles after my life partner, a gentle and protective Native American martial artist who swears that I would be omega if I were a warewolf. As a retired nurse, I find that he may be right about that.
I sincerely hope that there will be more Charles and Anna stories for us to enjoy in the future, until then, I'll wait for the next "Mercy"book as I listen my way through this series in audio.

great read

there are certainly some historical facts that need to be revealed in later books but this was an outstanding presentation.

Wow! The character’s accents are amazing!!!

I am a huge Patricia Briggs fan and didn’t think the story could get better than it is to read it but Holter Graham’s accents are incredible and brought a new layer of nuance that my own reading lacks. Whether it was the slight Native American intonation of Charles, Asil’s Spanish, or even Bran’s Celtic lilt only when he was stressed, I was blown away by how much it brought the characters even more to life than reading. All I can say is ... wow!
