Publisher's summary

Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack...and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she'd learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country will recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.

Great book from Briggs!

Ok, so I read the short story that started this story line (Alpha & Omega from the "On the Prowl" anthology) and loved it. I had to get this book to see what happened with Anna and Charles and I wasn't disappointed. I thought this book did very good at picking up where the short story left off and built the relationship between Charles and Anna very well. The balance between relationship and the action plot was great and I wasn't bored. I'd deffinately recommend this book. :)

Good Summertime Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Cry Wolf to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but the audio edition is good. It's a good story for commuting - you can check in and out of it without losing a lot.

What did you like best about this story?

Easy to follow, not too involved, but still entertaining.

What does Holter Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Graham is a great reader and conveys emotion and character really well throughout the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not really.

Unsure About the Narrator. . .

Any additional comments?

I liked the book overall and I did feel like the story, while still in the Mercy Thompson world was good enough to warrant its own series. I didn't real the prequel to this book so for a while I was very confused as to what was going on. I think that it would have been better if I had read that first, or if the set up hadn't depended so heavily on the information given in the prequel. Once it started rolling and I caught up it was a good read. I was really unsure about the narrator choice however. I read A LOT of urban fantasy novels and I am used to a female narrator in this type of series. I think in the end that a male narrator was a good choice, but something that he did bothered me. His representation of Charles kept nagging at me as somehow wrong until I finally realized what the problem was. I found it to be a little racist. Charles is half native american, and the narrator's choice is to give him a very stereotypical Native america way of speaking that was a bit much for me. It didn't detract from the enjoyment of the story for me really, but it was always in the back of my mind. Though the same narrator does all three books that have come out, he doesn't do this stereotypical speech pattern in the second book, but then picks it up again in the third book. I recommend the book especially if you have read the Mercy series, but it would have been more enjoyable for me if the narrator had taken a different take on the character.

So good! I've listened many times!

Halter Graham stays in character, has many voices and truly Performs the story. I've Listened/read Cry Wolf at least 6 times completely through and still enjoy the romantic relationships as well as the other personalities and interactions. Well written and always in good taste.

Love it, love it, love it!!!!

I am so glad I decided to start this series. I am a huge fan of the Mercy Thompson series. So as I wait for the newest book to be released I decided to start this one. Learning more about Bran has been a surprise. I see him and Charles differently and its pleasing. I can't wait to start the next book. Patricia Briggs is an awesome story teller. Even though I love Lorelei King, I have fallen in love with Holter Grahams voice as well.

love Patricia Briggs' books.

oh my goodness I so want the same narrator as the Mercy Thompson series. this guy drives me nuts every time he says Marok. he says it like Mare-rok not Ma-rok like the other narrator does.
