Publisher's summary

Harry Dresden lives!

After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad - because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness.

After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long. And now, her word is his command, no matter what she wants him to do, no matter where she wants him to go, and no matter who she wants him to kill. Guess which one Mab wants first?

Of course, it won’t be an ordinary, everyday assassination. Mab wants her newest minion to pull off the impossible: kill an immortal. No problem there, right? And to make matters worse, there exists a growing threat to an unfathomable source of magic that could land Harry in the sort of trouble that will make death look like a holiday.

Beset by enemies new and old, Harry must gather his friends and allies, prevent the annihilation of countless innocents, and find a way out of his eternal subservience before his newfound powers claim the only thing he has left to call his own… his soul.

Everything has been building to this...

No Spoilers. But...things have been building in Harry's world. Each crisis has been worse than the last and Harry has grown, become stronger. It will take all he has learned and been through to help him with the task the Winter Queen, Mab, has given him.

As always James Marsters does an extraordinary job narrating this story.

Jim's imagination, Harry's magic, and James' voice are the Trifecta!

James Marsters Returns

If you could sum up Cold Days in three words, what would they be?

The book stands on its own and is a well written addition to the series, but thank god they brought back James Marsters to do the reading.

Best Dresden Yet!

Straight and to the point, this was well worth the long wait for the latest installment, even after the last less than enjoyable book. This was the best Dresden book yet, the humor was great, I really liked having Toot-Toot more involved as well, he is becoming one of my favorite characters in the series. You can't go wrong with this one!

Moments of genius, hilarity and action!

James Masters brings this world to life - from the world weary Dresden to the slinky Lady to the laugh-out-loud Toots and his troops..his inflection fully animates the written word. This is my favorite Dresden book, so far. I love the descriptions...a take on bedazzled that still makes me laugh. The story moves quickly and is so enjoyable you want to listen again and again.

Excellent (no-spoilers)

The beginning was a bit tenuous, but shortly thereafter the story gained purchase.

Very likely one of the best Dresden stories.

The more I listen to Butcher's work the more angry I get at the made for TV series.
What a disservice that is to these fine stories. HBO/Showtime would have done these
right and put them in a special place.

Mr's Butcher and Marsters, thank you.

Can't Wait

Can't Wait for the next one! But then I haven't read or listened to anything by Jim Butcher that I didn't love... The "Codex Alera" series is still one of my all time favorites. I only wish Harry could find a good romantic side kick... he really has gotten the short end of the stick in that area. Seelie & Unseelie Queens who eat you alive or Vampire chicks who he can't get intimate with.... ugh!
I have yet to find a character in this genre that I like as much as Harry Dresden.
Although Mike Carey has the "Felix Castor" series that kind of grows on you...
