Harry Dresden lives!

After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad - because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness.

After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long. And now, her word is his command, no matter what she wants him to do, no matter where she wants him to go, and no matter who she wants him to kill. Guess which one Mab wants first?

Of course, it won’t be an ordinary, everyday assassination. Mab wants her newest minion to pull off the impossible: kill an immortal. No problem there, right? And to make matters worse, there exists a growing threat to an unfathomable source of magic that could land Harry in the sort of trouble that will make death look like a holiday.

Beset by enemies new and old, Harry must gather his friends and allies, prevent the annihilation of countless innocents, and find a way out of his eternal subservience before his newfound powers claim the only thing he has left to call his own… his soul.

Great next step after Ghost Story

It's nice to see James Marsters return to Jim Butcher's Dresden files, after 12 books any other narrator doesn't just seem right. In this outing of the The Dresden Files, Dresden is finally having to deal with the aftermath of Changes, and manages to lay groundwork for future Dresden novels. It's a nice pace to start to ramp up after a slower Ghost story. I cant wait till the next installment.

Butcher is back in true form

Awesome! So glad to see that book 13 was a dismal fluke as Butcher is back in true form. Once again this installation has everything you would expect; familiar characters, Harry in another impossible situation, the pending ending of the world by mysterious forces... perfect!! This is why I love this series. Great plot twists and turns that ring true and bring in tons of elements from the previous books. Now that I'm finally caught up with the series I feel the pain of having to WAIT! It was nice to start the next as soon as I finished one.

So glad Dresden and James Marsters are back!

What did you love best about Cold Days?

Thank goodness Dresden has his body back and his friends behind him. Cold Days is a return to action. Dresden is never better than when he has his friends to give him grief and bad guys to stomp.

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

James Marsters IS Dresden. I can't listen to anyone else narrate these books; even when reading them, I hear his voice. He has a great grasp of all the characters and brings them all to life, but Dresden is the key.

Wow

It was great to have Harry and his friends back for yet another incredible performance. What a great journey; how does every book just get better than the next. And James Marsters is Harry Dresden; what a performance! Jim Butcher manages to create characters that are funny, insightful, interesting, and also kick-ass warriors. Truly another great "mr. toad's wild ride" full of adventure. Am so hoping book 15 is available the day after tomorrow! :)

Mr Marsters is audiobook perfection

The story is excellent and well written, and the narrator does an amazing job. His performance is the standard by which I judge other audiobooks. I find most of them wanting...
