Publisher's summary

Harry Dresden lives!

After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad - because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness.

After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long. And now, her word is his command, no matter what she wants him to do, no matter where she wants him to go, and no matter who she wants him to kill. Guess which one Mab wants first?

Of course, it won’t be an ordinary, everyday assassination. Mab wants her newest minion to pull off the impossible: kill an immortal. No problem there, right? And to make matters worse, there exists a growing threat to an unfathomable source of magic that could land Harry in the sort of trouble that will make death look like a holiday.

Beset by enemies new and old, Harry must gather his friends and allies, prevent the annihilation of countless innocents, and find a way out of his eternal subservience before his newfound powers claim the only thing he has left to call his own… his soul.

Absolutely awesome, ever increasing story line.

Wow, these Harry Dresden novels just keep getting better and better, just when you think you can see what might be coming next, Jim Butcher surprises the readers with a twist here and a pinch there and changes the direction of the story that you could not have seen coming which makes all of his novels fresh and exciting .

Another Outstanding Read and Story

huge fan of author and narrator. Jim's books with the Fairies of Summer and Winter are always favorites. Be prepared to be Hooked. Love that Toot! Go Lacuna!

This one broke my heart

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

James Marsters is Harry Dresden

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Wish I could have. Hated to turn it off.

Any additional comments?

Having followed all these characters from STORM FRONT this next chapter of Harry's life was the hardest to listen to. Butcher does an outstanding job with this story. The ending broke my heart. There is the hope for the future though.

James Marsters is Harry

Would you listen to Cold Days again? Why?

An exciting story that keeps the action going with the character, and the story line. Well-written, impeccable voice performance. I never thought of James Marster's voice as a woman - but he carries those characters with the same amount of finesse as he performs Harry.

What other book might you compare Cold Days to and why?

I don't have a comparison at this time. But it says something that this is the first audio book I've listened through to completion without losing interst because the performance or the story dragged me down to boredom.

What about James Marsters’s performance did you like?

James manages to capture the characterizations and details of the author's writing without letting the story get bogged in the details. It wasn't until I listened to it that I realized how much deail Jim puts in his writing. It sets the scene beautiful in my head when I read it, but it can drag the performance audio down if not done right. James Marsters does it right.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Sure - but who has that much time? At most I can cobble 90 minutes of listening time. And it goes by too quickly.

Any additional comments?

I am purchasing the other books in the series as I can. They really are that enjoyable.

Great story

Any additional comments?

Great story, I can't wait for the next one! Very glad they brought back James Marsters as the narrator, just wasn't the Dresden Files without him.

The meter which all other narrators should follow

Would you listen to Cold Days again? Why?

In a heart beat

What did you like best about this story?

I love the story line and the way that each characters comes alive (but they don't each get chapters of back story)

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

When I think of Dresden I hear his voice. Great at giving each character a person voice (other narrators blend voice and it gets hard to understand who is talking)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would love to but it is a long book.
