Harry Dresden lives!

After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad - because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness.

After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long. And now, her word is his command, no matter what she wants him to do, no matter where she wants him to go, and no matter who she wants him to kill. Guess which one Mab wants first?

Of course, it won’t be an ordinary, everyday assassination. Mab wants her newest minion to pull off the impossible: kill an immortal. No problem there, right? And to make matters worse, there exists a growing threat to an unfathomable source of magic that could land Harry in the sort of trouble that will make death look like a holiday.

Beset by enemies new and old, Harry must gather his friends and allies, prevent the annihilation of countless innocents, and find a way out of his eternal subservience before his newfound powers claim the only thing he has left to call his own… his soul.

Winter's knight! It aint right! Mab may cry!

Would you listen to Cold Days again? Why?

I have already listened to this book twice. You will hate to turn it off to sleep. You can trust Jim Butcher to tell a great tale. Harry Dresden is a "one of a kind character." The flavor of the world Harry lives in is as sweet as honey. You can only hold your breath while waiting to see what Harry will do next.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Harry Dresden is my favorite character. He is the same smart a$$ as I was as a kid. He feels the pain of his choices and is always trying to do the right thing. Yet he is still learning that life is hard and often requires personal sacrifice for those we love. Harry always steps up to the challenges of life.

Have you listened to any of James Marsters’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I like the way he reads the Dresden series. He does a fine job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed often and found myself on the edge of my seat. You won't go wrong with this book.

Any additional comments?

If this is the first book of Harry Dresden you have read, you have a lot of fun ahead of you. I envy you the chance to read these books for the first time. I have reread many of the Dresden files. But, there is just one first time for each book. Have fun, I did !

Hell's Bells! From the frying pan to the fire!

Any additional comments?

Wow. Coming back from the dead is hard, but for Harry Dresden it's like being tossed from the frying pan into the fire! He not only has new enemies to deal with, including his 'savior' Mab and her faerie co-horts, but old, unexpected enemies as well. There is a TON of action in this book, and Harry has to fight not only his enemies but his own newly-acquired Winter Knight power in the process. Harry, of course, being Harry, tries to keep his friends out of the fight, but, his friends, being who they are, won't hear of it, of course. The character progression of all the characters since his death is amazing - from Butters to Molly to Mouse.

James Marsters is a ...errr .. master with all the nuances of each character and makes the ride so very enjoyable. He is, and always will be, Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. You can feel the emotions, hear the pain, the tears in his voice, hear the triumph and the fury. He pulls you into the story with his performance and literally makes it impossible to stop listening and, when you're done, you simply must listen again!

Despite all Harry has been through, this book only seems to demonstrate just how much further he still has to go. Everything has changed for so many of the characters - I can't wait to see where Jim Butcher takes our favorite professional wizard and his band of buggered next.

WOW, Its great to really have Harry back

This was SUCH a good book, I enjoyed every thrill packed minute. James Marsters IS Harry Dresden. This book was one of Jim Butcher's best. Exciting from beginning to end. All the characters are back. I couldn't stop listening. At the end all I could think is 'WOW what a ride!" I'd give it 6 stars, if I could.

Only sad part is that the book is over and I have to wait a year for another.

Its a fairy war!

If you could sum up Cold Days in three words, what would they be?

Action Adventure Fantasy

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

James Marsters is awesome. He has different voices for each of the characters, and it was easy to get lost in the story. After hearing James Marsters narrorate the Dresdon Files, I will definetly seek out other books he has been the narrator of

The best one yet. Doom and foreboding and hope all bundled into a great continuation. Forget Ghost Story, it was a bad dream.

It just keeps getting better

I just can’t say enough good things about the Dresden series. This book is incredible and James Marsters is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators. There are unbelievable twists and turns and it’s so cool to see all the pieces that have been laid out in the previous books come together and you start to see what’s really going on in Harry’s world.
