Publisher's summary

For years the Department of Military Sciences has fought to stop terrorists from using radical bioweapons - designer plagues, weaponized pathogens, genetically modified viruses, and even the zombie plague that first brought Ledger into the DMS. These terrible weapons have been locked away in the world’s most secure facility. Until now. Joe Ledger and Echo Team are scrambled when a highly elite team of killers breaks the unbreakable security and steals the world’s most dangerous weapons. Within days there are outbreaks of mass slaughter and murderous insanity across the American heartland. Can Joe Ledger stop a brilliant and devious master criminal from turning the Land of the Free into a land of the dead?

Code Zero, a Joe Ledger novel from Jonathan Maberry, is the exciting direct sequel to Patient Zero.

Fantastic Book !!!

Would you listen to Code Zero again? Why?

Yes - I will. I love the Joe Ledger series and Ray Porter... he sounds JUST like I imagined Joe Ledger sounding and acting. The story and the reading... perfect.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Code Zero?

Don't want to give away details!

Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to Patient Zero... and he was excellent there as well. I hope they keep him for any and all Joe Ledger books. Excellent work!

Any additional comments?

Fantastic series... just fantastic

Least favorite so far

I feel let down with this book... like the author was out of ideas and under the gun to turn out a book so he just took all the past stuff, smashed it together in n a single undeveloped character & vomited forth a story. By now, we all know the basics & nobody needs to be browbeaten, again, with who the DMS is, that Leger is psychotic with 3 personalities or all the repetitive stuff that pass out the word count. And... let’s face it, we know Leger constantly goes to a gun fight with only a knife, but... really? He’s an Operator & he’s smart enough to go into The Zombie Apocalypse with more than a single pistol. Nope. I feel cheated with this one...

Awesome narration and a great book

Ray Porter is such an incredible narrator. He brings to life every single character in this series and I can't imagine it read by anybody else. I will listen to any book that he decides to narrate. Jonathan Mayberry doesn't outstanding job with this novel it's one of my favorites. If you love a great story with multifaceted characters then you'll enjoy this book.

I can SERIOUSLY not say enough about this book.

Where does Code Zero rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among all the audio books, I'm not sure, possibly top five? It is easily the best in the Joe Ledger series by a large stretch, and the performance was top notch have MERCY.

What did you like best about this story?

The entire story is enthralling. I'm struggling to figure out how to talk about it without spoiling it, but all I can say is that being so close to home in a story has never had greater impact. My only complaint, and it's very little, but my only complaint is that I wish there was more time spent with Monk.

What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His performance of some of the characters in particular was amazing. The portrayal of Joe is always excellent, I love that he entirely nails what I expect Joe to sound like all of the time, the snarky voice he points on when Joe makes snarky comments is perfection. His portrayal of Monk reaaally stood out to me though, and the crazy chapter you get to later was nuts good. Super out of the world excellent.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have if it wasn't so long, it was really worth it.

Any additional comments?

This is honestly a great cap to a series, I don't know if it's the last story planned in the Joe Ledger chronicles, but if it is I can't hold it against him for picking this to be the way to go out. It's got a taste of literally every previous book, brought together in a way that I never imagined they could be brought together. It's seriously worth the money spent, the Joe Ledger chronicles in general are the best modern day sci-fi ish? Books on the market. Monster Hunter International brings up a VERY close second though.
