"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post

Oaths sworn . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide... Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king? Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still, there is more adventure at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices—choices that will take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Spellbounding

Would you consider the audio edition of Brisingr to be better than the print version?

I can't compare the two, I only have the audio version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Brisingr?

Eragon learning about his parents.

Have you listened to any of Gerard Doyle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've only heard Doyle's performances in the Eragon series, but I thought this book was his best performance ever!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

All is fair in love and war.

Overall series is wonderful. This book is good.

I love this series of books. great imagination and character development. wonderful descriptions of people and places. This book has great important parts for the overall story but it is slower and many times it repeats itself. Recapping from previous books (which helps if you haven't read it recently) but also recapping from earlier in this book. Just seemed odd to keep repeating. Overall a great read! Ready for book 4!

All incompasing story.

All the aspects you could wish for. It has magic, swords, love, and heros. Most important of all the connections and bonds that different people can forge.

Just.. the dragon voices

I loved the book and the story and even the narration. But the dragons all sound the same even though they speak telepathically? why do they need growling grumbling voices??

Excellent book but chapters wrong

Greatly enjoyed the book, fantastic story and well read. However, the chapter markings in the audible book are all wrong. They begin in the middle of chapters. Since there isn't a kindle synced version it made it very frustrating.

Excellent third book and gears up the fourth well

This book had a lot going on and my favorite aspect is it really fleshed out Eragon as a character because he is finally taking the reins a little bit of how he wants to be seen through leadership and morals. So long are the days Eragon is kind of fumbling around and now we finally see him reaching a stage he can stand and fight for himself!
