"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post

Oaths sworn . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide... Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king? Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still, there is more adventure at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices—choices that will take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

Lives up expectations

I am a huge fan of this series and loved this book. Like the others it is beautifully paced and full of imagination. I did not realize until the end that it was not the end of the series. So I anxiously now await more to come.

Love it

I enjoy all the characters, but I laughed the most at Angela's wit. I think her story could make a short book.

Amazing book with an extremely talented vocalist

The book itself is one of the pats to one of the best fantasy series out there, but Doyle just really bring it to life and, because of that, you find yourself emersed so easily.

Fantastic YA Fantasy to listen to with your family

This story was well read and my children and I could listen to it together. It was a great family book. I highly recommend it for long car-rides with the kids. For us, we just listened to the entire Inheritance Cycle together after dinner. I knit and my 11 year old did a little homework (the simple stuff) and my 8 year old drew while we listened together. I found that at dinner we were eating quickly and excitedly talking about what would happen next. It was a fantastic family reading experience.

A nostalgic romp with incredible narration!

Brisingr is the third in Christopher Paolini's epic Inheritance Cycle. I can't pretend that I'm not biased. I've read these books over and over again since I was just a wee lad, and they've influenced my vocabulary and use of language quite a bit. So, keeping that in mind, I still love Brisingr immensely. The characters, the world, the character interaction... It all just feels so vibrant. I am fully aware that the majority of the story is stolen right from Star Wars, but that doesn't change the fact that every word of this novel adds to creating a rich, deep world that is a blast to experience. This is also probably the best experience I've ever had with Brisingr, too, with Gerard Doyle offering an incredible performance. One small thing that annoyed me was how the very first and very last chapters very effectively set the mood using music, but that did not happen once throughout the entire rest of the novel. Oh well, I guess, maybe they'll do that with the next book.
