"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post

Oaths sworn . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide... Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king? Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still, there is more adventure at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices—choices that will take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. Fantastic!

I've lost count of how many times I've read this series, I love the story-line. This the second time I've listened through it and definitely will not be the last! Gerard Doyle does a fantastic job reading it, I love his voice. Easy listen!

The best yet

I've been eagerly awaiting Brisingr ever since I finished Eldest (almost a year ago). So when it got closer to the release date I started getting scared that that I would be disappointed somehow because of how much I had hyped up myself. Paolini Far from disappoints in this book. His writing keeps getting better and better and this is the best book so far. And Gerard Doyle is one of the best readers in the business. I can always tell which character is talking, male or female; which is difficult to pull off for a lot of readers I've heard.

*If you haven't picked up this series then you're depriving yourself! But start at the begining with "Eragon" for the full effect.

Wonderful, yet mixed emotions!!

I love all of these books. This one was a little slow to start for me. I like the thrill of the chase and the action parts the best. That is just me. I feel that you must be listening to an extraordinary story when you are not all that crazy about a persons voice yet it still captures your interest and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Constantly having a hard time stopping when listening to these books. I will listen in the car, at night in bed and even while I am working. Sometimes harder to concentrate while working though. HAHA Enjoying it all. I can't wait to start the last book. This one has quite the ending, so I am allowing myself some time to take it all in first. It has been years since I have found a series that has me not actually wanting to get to the end, for it will be the end. ha! Thank you very much for taking me into this wonderful world with Eragon, Saphira and everyone else. :)

Reader ruins story imo

I ha e read the series a few times. I picked these up to listen in the car. Cannot finish due to having to listen to the aweful version of Saphira. love the series but the reader is not good.

Wonderful!

Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle continues to be fantastic and wonderful! There is an interview between the author and editor at the end. As before, there are some adult concepts and violent scenes, but no cursing or sex. I highly recommend this audiobook for older children, teens, and adults.

Worthwhile

I'm enjoying the entire series so far. This book is without exception.. The performance is wonderful, it really emerges you into the characters. I often wonder how people come up with stories such as this. in the interview with the author at the end gives insight . he is truly immersing himself into this world to bring us such a wonderful story

Love These Books

These will never not hold a special place in my heart! Although sometimes childish, and the parts in dragon's thoughts being odd and not altogether done well enough in my opinion. There is as well as some of the ex machina involved that all the books possess. However it is a story and naturally these things must occur! Overall the books hold up from when I was younger and now more than 10 years later I still cherish them anew!
