"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity."—The Washington Post

Oaths sworn . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide... Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king? Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still, there is more adventure at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices—choices that will take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

Absolutely terrific!!

Would you listen to Brisingr again? Why?

Yes, definitely. I would listen to the entire series again - after I finish the last book anyway, lol. This may be meant as a young readers book, but even in my fifties I find it wonderful to enter Eragon's world, and Gerard Doyle brings it all to life for me, filling my mind with the beauty, and terror of living in this wonderful world Christopher Paolini has created. I especially love how he has brought all the varied species of his world together in a common cause. The Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Dragons, and even Ergls can co-exist when they have something they believe in to fight for.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eragon of course, but not just because he's the hero of the story. He is human, he makes mistakes and learns from them. I've watched him grow and become the man he's meant to be. I've feared for him, cared for him, and been filled with a parents' pride as he makes the hard trip from boyhood to manhood.

What about Gerard Doyle’s performance did you like?

He brings life to all the characters, giving each their own voice and personality. He makes them real for me. I would listen to anything he narrates, he could make the phone book sound interesting.

I enjoyed this more than the last book.

The performance was very good as always. I was relieved that the elves home was limited compared to Eldest as I found it dreadfully boring. The developments with the characters both main and supporting (especially Roran) were very entertaining as well. I can't wait for the next book!

Great fantasy

What made the experience of listening to Brisingr the most enjoyable?

I have seen the movie and now disappointed that the movie missed so much. The detail is much better in written form. I love the pace of the narration, it kept the story going and me engaged in the story.

What does Gerard Doyle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voice acting was wonderful. Gerard Doyle has a great pace with wonderful inflection. With his voice narrating the story, I found it much easier to mentally picture the story as it progressed.

Fantastic!

Granted, there is a lot more detail and not as much action in this book, but it makes it perfect for expanding upon the world that Paolini has created. You learn about the politics and the emotional struggles that Eragon is facing. I found this to be the perfect segue between Eldest and the 4th book as it helps to explain so much. For everyone who has said that this book is slow, they are unwilling to relax and simply enjoy the breathtaking detail that Paolini has inserted into the land. I can't wait for book 4 to finish up the story!

Wold building

Okay so after reading this one and starting Inheritance not even 5 minutes later I can tell you I loved it. Personally, and this is my own opinion, I enjoyed the so-called 'sluggish' Dwarvin politics. I enjoyed Saphira losing her tempor. I enjoyed Eragon learning. The end though.. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it breaks my heart. And Roran's sections were also written with much intrigue.

This series just keeps getting better.

Some people think it drags on, but it's really just complete. Some more modern stories seem to leave lots of plot holes, and skimp out on background and detail. None of that here! It's not a story, it's a world.

A ‘must read’ for anyone loving dragons and elves

I had no idea how incredible these books were going to be, until I started diving deeper into the series.

It truly does get better and better with each book because you are so intertwined with the characters . the storyline is so well put together that you truly do feel as though you are in the book yourself

the author was absolutely amazing in crafting this masterpiece and the narrator has done a marvelous job.

Halfway through the series I felt like I was transforming into an elf myself.

The author creates the scenes to be very realistic and humanizes the characters in a way that we can relate to them.

This book, as well as the entire series, is by far my favorite of all time. You’re just completely emerged within the realm in to accomplish something like this is quite remarkable

I do wish That this entire book series would be turned into a Trilogy of films (as did with the LOTR), As it would be incredible to capture the magic of this realm.
