In the fifth book of the Star Force Series, the Eden system is in humanity's grasp, but can they keep it? Star Force is weak after a long war, and many yearn to go home. I enjoy this series. It is at its best when it deals with space exploration, meeting new life and discovery.
The storyline is a bit tedious in regards to Colonel Riggs being the untrained senior officer who is more often taking the role of a Sgt rather than commanding the battle. Colonels don't typically lead assaults that any Lt or Sgt could handle.
Other than this one quibble it is a solid story and worth the read.
I like the space battles the most and the strategy and tactics that are employed. The land battles by comparison are not as exciting but I expect them to get better once they defeat the Macros completely and introduce some better enemies who are more treacherous and brilliant.
I'm still waiting for the little intelligent robot to get a command of his own and a more human appearance.
I listen to a variety of audio books constantly in car and gym. My reviews remind me what I’ve read & are hopefully helpful to you as well.
Went on binge w/ this very good series.4-4.5 stars on average. I'm catching up on reviews for books #4-11. At this point I'm ready for a break from the series, but will surely return for more. It's hard to make battle after battle interesting for this sort of space sci-fi book, but this series seems more creative than several similar books, and the overall story is good.
Was so hard to turn off and couldn't wait until the next time to start up again. B. V. Larson is such a great author.
No predictable plot sequence in this book. A nice fresh experience. I look forward to the next!
Decent story but the author seems to write all female characters as bipolar tween girls. Needs some help in that area. Also, sex scenes are tacked on and don't seem to fit. An editor might help. Good story, though. I'll keep listening.
Mildly wild and slightly wacky, certainly full of idiosyncrasies and the occasional glitch or 2. Goodness is my life goal. Friends welcome!!
This story is just getting old. Not enough really happens from one to the next. Try the other series 'undying mercenaries' by the same author. All the books are excellent!
This is a good listen. However, I just want to take a weapon and whack Sandra myself!!! She is so annoying!!! Ugh! Although her annoyance started in book 4, She single handedly help me give this story 3 stars!
Learn, understand, then decide whether you accept or reject.
Don't expect a deep profound story here, and you'll enjoy it. This is a continuation of a military sci-fi saga that spans galaxies and years, fighting aliens and machines over vast and complex battlefields. That way, you'll enjoy this story as it is meant to be listened to.
Here and there patches of audio sounds different then the majority. Same voice just slightly different treble and bass. It is a little distracting.
