Publisher's summary

The #1 Bestselling series!

A QUEST OF HEROES (BOOK #1 IN THE SORCERER’S RING) revolves around the epic coming of age story of one special boy, a 14 year old from a small village on the outskirts of the Kingdom of the Ring. The youngest of four, the least favorite of his father, Thorgrin comes to learn he has mysterious powers he does not understand, that he has a special gift, and a special destiny. An epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

Books #2--#17 in the series are now also available!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

definitely yes.

What did you like best about this story?

The ups and the downs of THORN. To be so meek Through all this crazy, to be honest and humble through it all shows the power behind him even though he can't know of it yet.

Have you listened to any of Wayne Farrell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

excellent for this kind of book.

I really enjoyed it.

TECHNICAL: Well done technically, minimal music added, no audible mouth sounds, swallowing, digestive or breathing noises; things that ruin the listening experience for me.
PERFORMANCE: Skillful voice performance. Good range of character variance. Very consistent character presentation throughout the book.
STORY/AUTHORCRAFT: It was a bit too ‘Forrest Gump’ in that everything big or amazing was centered on the protagonist. Other than that the work was well crafted. Dialog was interesting and very listenable. Narration technique was smooth and tightly fit into the ‘happening now’ story. Plot was tight and compelling. If you like fantasy give it a shot. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Pulled me right in.

Any additional comments?

Sets out some foundations, tho somewhat haphazardly, to an intriguing story arc. It's no Nebula contender, but for a casual read it's a fun story. The author keeps the series volumes to a manageable size, perfect for those of us who struggle to fit in a lot of quality time for reading. Nice job Morgan Rice.

Good story

Liked the story. Hero is slightly cliché but nothing wrong with a classical hero. Good narration.

BE WARNED! Only 2/13 books were made audio

Any additional comments?

I'm just writing this to warn people than if you dont want to have to buy the paper backs skip it. It's a great book but the 2nd one is only 6 hours long then it cliffhanger and no more audio books. They never made the rest, I've looked. It's up to book 13 now and I'm pissed that I'll have to buy the paperbacks to find out how it goes.

Great story & characters, hard to stop listening!

This first story in the Sorcerer's Ring series introduces Thorgrin and the world of the King's court he becomes part of.
The character development is great, fully fleshed out. It's inspiring at times as the many great characters are described, really easy to like. The plot development is very enjoyable as well. I can see why this is a best seller, can't wait to listen to the 2nd one!
