Publisher's summary

Samantha Martin is an imp, enjoying an extended vacation from Hel. All she wants to do is drink beer by the pool, play mischievous pranks on the humans, and get her hot neighbor in the sack. It's a relaxing break from her infernal home as long as she manages to avoid the angels, who won't hesitate to execute her on sight.

But when her naughty hellhound lands her in trouble with the local werewolf pack, Sam is blackmailed into helping track and catch a killer. The steps she must take to appease the werewolves will put her right in the crosshairs of the angels. And with angels, there is no second chance.

Not your usual heroine

What did you love best about A Demon Bound?

It was a fairly unique world for me. Interesting.

What other book might you compare A Demon Bound to and why?

None that I have read.

What about Angela Rysk’s performance did you like?

I don't know if she should be complimented or insulted...but I totally bought her as a self absorbed, hedonistic, amoral, demon. Normally I would have found the slow pace annoying...but it worked perfectly for the character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

um...nope....not a moving moment that I can recall.

Any additional comments?

I don't usually like demon books, or books that involve possessions. I just find the idea of two personalities sharing a body just....I don't know it sounds annoying and creepy and confusing....and that is the normal run of the mill possession....this demon shreds and tortures the person to death and absorbs them into itself...and I am somehow ok with that... I find myself shaking my head that I actually like these characters. Everyone of them is completely amoral. I find her likable and funny even as she is killing and torturing people for fun. Not in an evil, take over the world kind of way. Just in an amoral damaged child torturing ants for fun kind of way.

great new author

Good story. Very Different. Performer should speak faster and maybe a bit older, being she is supposed to be forty.

Looking forward to next book

Narrator is a bit slow speaking

The story is over all good, but because of the pause between words required me to speed up the speech by 25% to keep sane. I attempted multiple times to listen to this book.

Really well done!

Love the humor and the story was so much fun!
The story was full of action and shows fantastic imagination. I enjoyed each book so much that as soon as I finished one book, I immediately purchased the next in the series and when I listened to all in the series, I was sad that there weren't more!

Great style and excellent narration

I enjoyed this read. The author and narrator combined to produce a realistic (given the scope of the genre) tale that caught and kept my attention. I look foward to the other books in the series.

Addicted!!!

Any additional comments?

I stumbled upon this book and was pleasantly surprised. I love Sam. She is a strong kick ass demon/imp whose moral compass doesn't always point north. Its refreshing to have a strong lead female character with a naughty dark side and a sense of humor. There were parts in the series where I thought it might be getting too dark, but I hung in there and it was well worth it! Well worth the listen, but be prepared to say goodbye to your social life :)

Start of great series.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook despite the reader. The author has a great story and the characters to carry it off.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Demon Bound?

This is difficult. Perhaps it's Sam's realization that angels are not the goodly force they are supposed to be. Further, she finds little difference between demons and angels.

What aspect of Angela Rysk’s performance would you have changed?

Angela can easily allow readers to tune out. She is monotone and her characters seem to sound the same. Great readers vary pitch, volume and inflection; further, character voices need differentiation. The reader needs more work in these areas. Angela's reading puts me too sleep!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did not have an extreme reaction to this book. I found it built well, told the story, built to a interesting crescendo, and ended wanting series continuation.

Any additional comments?

This author has a great future in writing. Her story telling is wonderful and knowledge superb. Glad she was not totally sidetracked by the business world.
