Publisher's summary

“This feel-good, uplifting read is filled with positive messages about self-care and self-love. It is sure to please foodies, home-makeover buffs, and anyone looking for a light-hearted romantic read.” –USA Today

A sexy romance about a plus-size sweetheart who gets a full-life makeover after a brutal breakup and falls for the incredibly hot contractor renovating her home.

Savvy Sheldon spends a lot of time tiptoeing around the cracks in her life: her high-stress and low-thanks job, her clueless boyfriend and the falling-apart kitchen she inherited from her beloved grandma—who taught her how to cook and how to love people by feeding them. But when Savvy’s world starts to crash down around her, she knows it’s time for some renovations.

Starting from the outside in, Savvy tackles her crumbling kitchen, her relationship with her body, her work–life balance (or lack thereof) and, last but not least, her love life. The only thing that doesn’t seem to require effort is her ride-or-die squad of friends. But as any home-reno-show junkie can tell you, something always falls apart during renovations. First, Savvy passes out during hot yoga. Then it turns out that the contractor she hires is the same sexy stranger she unintentionally offended by judging based on appearances. Worst of all, Savvy can’t seem to go anywhere without tripping over her ex and his latest "upgrade." Savvy begins to realize that maybe she should’ve started her renovations the other way around: beginning with how she sees herself before building a love that lasts.

"A heartfelt, hopeful, and humorous exploration of the importance of learning to love yourself...a joy to read.” –Booklist, STARRED review

Good romance story.

Always enjoy reading black romance but this is better than many. More focus on the story than the sex which I appreciate. Also nice reminder about the power of self love and acceptance.

definitely a foodie romance

do not listen on an empty stomach! this is a great story dealing with plus size issues realistically. And before you think it, Savvy does not starve herself down to a size 8. She gets in shape doing things she loves but her number isn't talked about a lot, but does not change much - she is still a plus. She also cooks, and the passages about cooking and eating are long, detailed, and make me crave what they eat . She has a jerk ex to get over, a new loving man, and a crazy set of friends who support her. She decides not to climb the corporate ladder at the expense of her health, branches out, and blooms. This is worth listening again.

This book was excellent! I love the story and as I listened I could relate the characters to some of my friends and how we would react in certain situations. Definitely recommend picking this up! Can’t wait to see where the Savvy and Spencer relationship goes!

Sweet & encouraging

I'm new to this author, well thought out story. I appreciate the effort of self esteem, self love, acceptance and determination. the love and support of a solid circle of love is always a blessing.

there was a huge plot of wordy and irrelevant or unmentioned follow up!

Gave me Terry McMillan vibes

Great Listen, keep me interested the entire time. I saw myself as well as some friends throughout the book. Notes of everyday life based in reality, not your syrupy sweet romance.
