Publisher's summary

A reality TV star and a cupcake-baking football player pretend to be a couple in order to save his bakery in this sweet and sexy romance.

Jada Townsend-Matthews is the most reviled woman in America after turning down a proposal on a reality dating show. When she comes home to lick her wounds, Jada finds herself working at San Diego's newest cupcake bakery, Sugar Blitz, alongside the uptight owner and professional football player Donovan Dell.

When a reporter mistakenly believes Jada and Donovan are an item, they realize they can use the misunderstanding to their advantage to help the bakery and rehabilitate Jada's image. Faking a relationship should be simple, but sometimes love is the most unexpected ingredient.

Fake It Till You Bake It is a sweet confection of a novel, the perfect story to curl up with and enjoy with a cupcake on the side.

🤔 ummm

I love comedy romance books but this one was not my favorite. I love how Jade speaks her mind and has her insecurities and impulsiveness with her dyslexia because I do too, and I could also relate on how her parents think or believe that it’s a discipline thing and how you learn to compensate with other things but the whole relationship moved a bit way too fast and did not allowed to any room for the audience to relate to how they come to become a couple. And yes the ending set for a second buck but it did now let a lot of things to unfold, just because they said that they love each other does not mean that the insecurities of Jade fade away, and that everything is all happy and dandy.

Nice & sweet

I enjoyed the story. I love how it ended with a set up for a 2nd book. I’ll keep an eye out. I hope she write a book for the other plays owning the bakery.

Love the Hate to Love Trope. Always entertaining. Listened to this in the car and grocery stores for days. Funny and interesting

Good story.

Starting it was hard to enjoy but as I continued to listen the story developed and it was a good read.

SWEET AND SASSY

I loved the story line and how each character was bought to life. There were definitely some moments where I chuckled out loud as I listened to the audio version of this book.

Most importantly the story didn’t veer off and try to tell the story of every character at one time in one book you know the main focus was Jada and Donovan.

I am a sports lover as well and so it was really nice to see that as part of the front story giving a good relationship with players and owners I thought that was a good touch.

predictable and a bit shallow

The story was well defined but boring and predictable, even for romance (and I love romance).

A fun listen

I am a guy who mostly listens to Sci-Fi and non-fiction. I started listening to rom-coms a few months ago to get away too much seriousness and shoot ‘Em up.
I got pulled into the story by becoming engaged with the characters. Despite the ridiculousness of the plot, they seemed real and worth following to the end of the story. I enjoyed my time with the book and am looking for another by the same author.

A cute romance with fun characters

I really enjoyed Fake it Till You Bake It. The story was lighthearted but had some depth as well. I think my favorite part was that the female lead was a fellow bougie, black girl and her banter with the male lead felt very authentic.

The narrator also did a great job, although her male voices sounded a lot alike in someplaces.

My only complaint was that it did tend to drag in places. Namely, the one love scene and the ending. They both seemed to go on longer than necessary.

All in all, I really loved this book and look forward to reading more by Janie Wesley in the future!

Cute romance novel to get lost in ❤️

I love a good love story, and the author did a good job developing the characters and storyline. I was able to visualize the characters -- I kept think of Derwin Davis from the tv show The Game for the main character 😂. The narration on the other hand was distracting from the story. The narrator didn't pull off multiple characters and there was no depth to the performance. It was laughable at times but also annoying. Mid way through I was ready to wrap the book up because of the narration. The book content was great tho, so it's still worth listening to but reading the book may be better!
