Publisher's summary

A single dad, a model, and a comedian walk into a bar.... They’re all Owen Brodie.
It’s only funny if you aren’t the hilarious struggling comedian who has been hired to be his son’s nanny for the stand-up tour.

Dear Ms. Hogan,

I’m emailing to offer you the job as my son’s nanny because Sam had a temper tantrum when I told him I can’t hire you to come on my stand-up tour with us. “She heckled me at a club a few years ago,” I wanted to say. “She is the sassy little turd who trolls me on Twitter,” I could have told him. “She’s an even bigger pain in the butt when we’re face-to-face,” I thought to myself. What I would never tell him is - things could get complicated. For reasons.

Let me know if you want the job.

With great reluctance,
Owen

#AdorableHowObsessedYouAreWithMe

Dear Mr. Brodie,

Thank you for your email. Please inform Sam that I like him very much and would love to be his nanny and accompany him on your terrible joke of a stand-up tour.

I can assure you - things will not get complicated. For many, many reasons.

Primarily because Owen Brodie isn’t funny, and he can suck it.

Out of financial desperation and a fondness for your son,
Frankie

Laughter & Love

I loved this book! I normally don't like comedy, but took a chance. I haven't laughed so much in a long time. The story is beautifully written
with a popular comedian single dad and his son. Then he hires a nanny who is a struggling comedian and spark fly.
The narrators were perfect for this storyline.

Actually Funny!

There are so many romantic comedies out there that are not actually funny, but this one is. I really enjoy Loring's writing and humor. My only criticism would be that the main characters got together too quickly, but the book was still fun and enjoyable.

Perfection!

This one has it all. Story, humor and spice! My first audiobook by Kayley Loring, but certainly won’t be my last. It was hilarious while pulling at your heartstrings. The narration though, is what makes this book!!! Perfection. The casting could not have been better. I’m slightly obsessed and can’t wait to start book 2!!! If you’ve been sitting on the fence about this one just LISTEN!!! You won’t regret it!

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”?

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”… though, was she?

Funny Business is first installment in The Brody Brothers series. It’s quintessential Kayley - lighthearted, sexy, and LOL funny.

This is the story of Owen Brody, soon to be single dad, former male model who is starting out a career in stand-up. During one of his shows in Tampa, Florida, he is heckled by a woman who is a few sheets to the wind. He finally decides to pull her into the act, but she leaves, giving him the finger.

Fast forward to three years later and Owen is now a more established comic about to go on tour and he needs a nanny to accompany them on tour, as he is taking his kid, Sam, with him. His agent decides to send him his niece, a fledgling comic herself , who has just been fired from her job as a writer in a tv show. Well well well, guess who shows up at Owen’s door for the interview? Frankie, the Tampa heckler. It’s obvious to Owen that he can’t hire HER. But Sam hits it off with Frankie immediately and that has NEVER happened before. He even laughs at HER jokes, which to Owen is a personal offense as all his jokes fall flat with his own kid.

In true Kayley Loring fashion, Frankie gets hired and hilarity ensues. Owen had always been attracted to the heckler lady and Frankie has a secret of her own. Her teenage self had posters of Owen on her walls in the past. She even sent him a Christmas card to his agency then… a card that went unacknowledged to her poor teenager heart dismay.

This is a romantic comedy and we all know that things will work out in the end. But it’s Loring’s genius in creating side characters that makes this book a delight to read. Throughout the book, we follow the group texts of the Brodie family. The brothers don’t spare insults to one another and in more than one occasional we have the “oops, I thought I texted the other group” situation and it’s hilarious. Frankie also has her own text interactions with her best friend Mia and her parents. Her mom is always trying to send her material for her stand-up act, which itself is fodder for her jokes. And with her family being Australian, sometimes things get “lost in translation” from English to English so to speak.

Sam is also a hoot. A very peculiar kid with a propensity to napping and a love for cheeses. Mark my word for it, if you know anyone who is lactose intolerant you will incorporate a new term to your vocabulary: the cheese poops! LOL

If you read her other series, Name in Lights, you will be happy to see a few appearances by Shanicolex and Grammie Todd. We even get a scene where the amazing Lazy Wingmen come to Owen’s aide.

Kayley Loring writes really well. Period. But she writes really really well with narration in mind, so I can’t wait to listen to the audiobook in a few weeks.

Great reading, great fun, don’t miss it!

Narration review: Kayley Loring writes FOR narration. And in this one, with this dream team of narrators, her words just shine. It’s even funnier when you listen to it.

Owen and Frankie

What a fun and Funny story. It's always a great story when you can laugh out Loud, then get all swoony in the sexy times. The silent Seinfeld between the two, and Emma Wilder was on par, and Zachary Webber is a hoot. The only complaint and I didn't even take a star away is the grand Gesture, Frankie should have made Owen work harder for forgiveness. But still a cute a story

Hilarious

Kayley Loring delivers the perfect blend of comedy and Steamy romance. Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder are hilarious in standup and sexy hot in their romance together. Zachary Webber, Jason Clarke, Makenzie Cartwright, Connor Craig’s we’re hysterical in the many characters they portrayed. Duet narration was perfection!

Unexpected and fun and I can’t wait for more.

I wasn’t too sure about this book at first, but it was undoubtedly a great listen. I thought the premise of having comedian main characters was different, and while I didn’t like every joke (because I am just really tough to make laugh) I did love the story and it all was perfectly timed and just made sense. I truly enjoyed the banter between the characters and loved when we heard the text chains with the family etc. the fact that everyone had a voice was amazing. It was one of my favorite aspects of this audiobook. It gave every character a real sense of individualism that add to the story in the best way. It was fun, light hearted, and makes you feel good as well as entertaining. I can’t wait for the next books in the series and I hope they keep all the same voices for all the characters going forward because the narrators became those characters so well I can’t imagine it any other way. Worth a credit.

Hilarious and so funny to listen to - duet narration

I love all the books that Kayley Loring has written and am smitten by her wit and humor. This one made me chuckle, laugh out loud especially the fart jokes, the bantering between Owen and Frankie and the whole Brody family and Frankie’s parents…I didn’t want it to end…and then it leads to ‘ The Attachment Theory’ which I so loved listening to it…

More…more of what Kayley writes please. And…the narration was superb especially when it is duet and it includes all the amazingly talented narrators who are my idols…PERFECTION in this humor filled story of love

Shytes And Giggles

Funny Business by Kayley Loring
Narrated by Teddy Hamilton, Emma Wilder, Zachary Webber, Jason Clarke, Mackenzie Cartwright & Conner Crais

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this story. And admittedly it took a chapter or two for me to warm to the main character Frankie but she eventually got me and I liked her a lot.
Owen on the other hand I found hilarious from the start. The banter between these two was witty and sexy. I adored that Frankie forged a relationship with Owen’s son and family. His brothers are a riot.

This was my first multiple narration story and I feared I’d get confused but that didn’t happen. Having all the narrators was fun to listen to. I enjoyed them all.
I definitely will have to check out more books from Kayley Loring.
