Publisher's Summary

Jenny's single-parent life revolves around her kids and her job, which means that hours of Animal Planet and strings of computer code are about all she has time for. Not that Jenny's looking for adventure or romance - she's the type of woman who believes in playing it safe.

When Jenny is called upon to do some consulting for the Bourbon Street Boys - a New Orleans private security firm - she knows she should stay away. They conduct surveillance on known criminals and put themselves in harm's way pretty much every day, so No is the obvious answer...Problem is, there's a guy on the team with a body to die for and a dimple that just won't quit luring Jenny in, tempting her to throw all caution to the wind.

Will Jenny take the risk or will she do what she's always done - play it safe and wait for the right time?

"Even single mom's can have a life.."
What did you love best about Wrong Place, Right Time?

The book is primarily in first person, Jenny, single mom, with employment insecurity. Ms Godley sounds just like Jenny is written. She is quirky, a great mom, with a wonderful internal conversation going on.

What did you like best about this story?

The entire story. Dev is a big, tall, doll of a guy. He is charming and has a great sense of humor. Fits right in with Jenny. I love their relationship.

Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Godley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    no

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the kids first me Jacob. So touching, out of the mouths of babes.

    Any additional comments?

I thoroughly loved this story from start to finish. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. You will never forget their love scene. Enough said. You need to experience it for yourself whether in written or audio form.

    "Romantic Chivalry"

    What did I like?
-The performance was very good with the voices. The pause dramatic tones was in all the correct places.
-A woman spoiled by chivalry of what is ladies dream about, let's the listener/reader escape reality for awhile.

    What I didn't like?
-The ending leaves you wanting more. The action ends abruptly. This is typical with any series however.

Who would I recommend this book to?
-Any woman who lost her job recently.
-Any woman who is a single mother.
    -Any woman who likes chivalry.
-Any woman interested in a little action and romance in her books.

Why did I choose 5 stars?
This was well written. It flowed for the reader, the story was interesting and the performance was phenomenal.

    Story
"A mix of good & bad"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe. I really liked the story, but the narration was a bit "off," for me. I balanced on loving and hating the story every few minutes because the narration didn't quite fit right for me. If that makes sense.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dev; I am pretty sure he has Alopecia. I may have missed where it says why he is bald and has no eyebrows, but I suspect that is why he is so bald. I have Alopecia and I thought it was pretty cool to see a character with it portrayed as strong and healthy since in real life, people often think folks with Alopecia are cancer patients (I have some awkward stories :p ).

What aspect of Elizabeth Godley’s performance would you have changed?

Not horrible, but not my favorite. The pacing of that narration really bugged me. Fantastic with voice work (tones, character variations, etc). I felt like there were too many pauses and gaps in between sentences, and even when the characters were flustered, the words were drawn out and sentences annoyingly slow throughout most of the book. There were spots where it got better, but for the most part, the narration pacing was very slow. If the pace could be picked up a bit, it would be one of my favorites because of the accents, tones, variations are done very well; they aren't over the top, and I can imagine real people attached to them.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Wong place, Right Time? :p

    Any additional comments?

I can't wait to dive into the next installment! :)

    "It was pretty good"

I want to say I like the idea the author made for this series. Sadly, this book didn't have really excitement or mystery. Something happens in the beginning, then the whole story, then something happens in the end. I want more mystery and suspense with my romance- which is why I started this series. The first book was good. This one, although I liked the characters, didn't have enough excitement.

"Great narrator, the book was not as good"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No I would not. It's an easy read, which I consider a good thing, but it is not written very well. It repeats a lot and I didn't really like the main character that much.

Would you ever listen to anything by Elle Casey again?

Not sure if I like her writing style, but to be fair I would listen to at least one more before I made a firm opinion about Elle Casey.

What about Elizabeth Godley’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed the narrator very much. I liked her southern accents. I am from Louisiana and appreciated her authenticity. I did not think that Elle Casey had ever been to Louisiana or New Orleans for that matter. I guess I just want more specifics from the environment in the writing.

Do you think Wrong Place, Right Time needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Unfortunately, no, I didn't care about the characters enough to want more of a story from them.

    Any additional comments?

Unfortunately, this was just not that good of a book. I think the narrator did a good job with what she had.

"There will be chuckling, snorting & loud laughs"

I must say I really enjoyed this book, actually more than the first book, mainly because Jenny's internal monologue is way more hilarious than May's. The sudden southern twang of characters like Dev threw me off a bit as the accent wasn't so present in the narration of the first book but I settled in pretty quickly.

The kids were a wonderful addition to this book as well, they were true to their ages and as a mum I could picture so many of the scenes in my head because they sound like most of my days. I was just cracking up or cringing right alongside Jenny. The lead and supporting characters were people the reader could really like. I love seeing Jenny emerging from her Mum cocoon - that stage when you're suddenly waking up from this unrecognisable person you've become after you've been immersed in child-rearing for so long that you forgot about yourself. The move from paralytic fear to little leaps of faith was beautiful to watch. I laughed all the way through their sex scene because she was so pleased with herself! Also great was the fact that Dev got a lot more personality development than Ozzie did in the first book. We learn almost as much about his motivations and fears as we learnt Jenny's. Sadly, I still couldn't give this 5 stars for a few reasons.
    1)
While Dev got more personality, his back story is full of holes. There is so much about Dev that could have made this story just blow my mind but it seems the leading men in this series don't get as much emphasis as the ladies. Not sure that works well for me. I like partnerships in romance.
    2)
I think maybe this series could benefit from another POV or the omnipresent narrator approach in order to really amp up the action factor. Given that Dev is a 'ninja', Bourbon St Boys is an elite security firm with a boo-yah panic room, and Jenny keeps landing in the hot seat, I'd expect an opportunity for us to see Dev let those limbs of his fly in defence of his lady and even the kids... though out of their sight. Sammy did not need to see anything getting chopped off, LOL!
    3)
Too much repetition. I know we tend to run the same thoughts through our heads over and over depending on our 'issues' but as this is fiction, rely on the reader to remember stuff like Jenny is a scaredy cat, Miles' cheques bounce, etc.

On the flip side, the foreshadowing for Toni's story promises some real action and a leading lady who can handle it. Can't wait!
