Publisher's summary

Mary Alice Brannigan doesn’t believe in the supernatural. Nor does she expect to find that Dreamland, the decaying amusement park she’s been hired to restore, is a prison for the five Untouchables, the most powerful demons in the history of the world. Plus, there’s a guy she’s falling hard for, and there’s something about him that’s not quite right.

But rocky romances and demented demons aren’t the only problems in Dreamland: Mab’s also coping with a crooked politician, a supernatural raven, a secret government agency, an inexperienced sorceress, an unsettling inheritance, and some mind-boggling revelations from her past.

As her personal demons wreck her newfound relationship, and real demons wreck the park, Mab faces down immortal evil and discovers what everybody who’s ever been to an amusement park knows: The end of the ride is always the wildest.

One of the best books I've ever listened to!

It's got humor, mystery, fantasy, romance, familial love, cute baby angle, and adoring pets - what doesn't it have! All narrated by a fantastic performer, Angela Dawe. I have listened to this audiobook numerous times over 10 years and feel a pang every time I end it and leave this beautiful world behind. There is characteristic Jennifer Crusie wit and humor. The story is sharp, diverse, FUN, and super interesting. The emotions are beautiful and projected via realistic dialogue. The plot is fulfillingly complex but well executed with all questions answered. There's a lot of charm in the story and characters. And there a a lot of different and interesting characters. I sorely miss Jennifer Cruise's books and writing; I dearly wish she woukd start writing again, particularly every time I listen to this book.

It is imperative to mention the beautiful job that Angela Dawe has done in narrating the story beautifully and bringing each character to glorious life in just the right tone.

Not a single dull moment in this book. Fantastic!

Tupperware bowl, Shared With Tuna Fish

Ms Dawe reads three of this author’s funniest stories. This a paranormal fun story so if you liked Trust Me On This, my fave, or Agnes and the hit man, it is that type of humor. Kinda of corny fun LOL dialogue, hence my title . This is a long one for the authors and you will miss the characters when you have to say good bye. If you are in too much of a serious mood save this story for when you feel frivolous. It is fun and other reviewers missed the author’s intentions. The story will be a joy to re listen again on a wintry day. I do use the 1.2 speed to match the mystery. Give it a try.

Excellent fun story line

This book left me wanting more. I was surprised several times by the twists and turns. The authors held my attention with the intrigue and kept me laughing with the lighted heartedness that is a Jennifer Crusie novel.

Wonderfully fun and unpredictable

One of my all time favorite books! Really interesting characters that are easy to enjoy and relate to, but aren't two dimensional or predictable. Exciting twists and turns.

A fabulous intersection of fantasy and reality, battles and romance, banter and action.

I completely enjoyed this book.

I hope these two authors do more work together. The combination is always quirky and delightful.

Maybe a Different Narrator

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe - the story line is interesting but I hesitate because of the narration.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

There was no inflection when a character was speaking or thinking, or when reading non-character text. I kept getting distracted, trying to remember which character was the 'star' for that scene. Maybe different tones and accents?

A "Fun" Story I Wish Had More Teeth to It

Wild Ride was certainly one of the more eccentric fantasy novels I have read. The story is similar to others where we have a group of people brought together for a common calling or cause, but what makes this different is the setting - a slightly run-down amusement park. The protagonists were all characters you started cheering for, but the villans were more comical than diabolical. Overall, I did enjoy this very much and do recommend it, just don't expect to be overly "wowed". It's a good "lazy weekend" listen.

Angela Dawe, the narrator, was exceptional - she has a very wide range of voices and played out the scenes in an entertaining fashion.
