Publisher's summary

Wild Invitation is an exciting collection of Psy/Changeling stories from New York Times best-selling author Nalini Singh. In "Beat of Temptation", innocent Tamsyn has always had a place in her heart for Nathan, a blooded DarkRiver sentinel. But is she ready for the fierce demands of the mating bond? In "Stroke of Enticement", a wary young teacher, skeptical about love, arouses the man - and the animal - in an aggressive leopard changeling who must prove his affections are true.

The collection also features two never-before-published novellas: In "Declaration of Courtship", Grace, a shy, submissive wolf, finds herself pursued by the last man she ever would have imagined: a SnowDancer lieutenant said to be "mad, bad, and dangerous to know". In "Texture of Intimacy", SnowDancer healer Lara discovers the searing joys - and unexpected challenges - of being mated to quiet, powerful Walker, a man used to keeping his silence.

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

Awesome

I love all four of these stories, they are great additions to the Psy-Changling Series. Angela Dawe really knows how to bring out the emotion and character of every story. I highly recommend this collection.

Great Series

I really enjoyed these short stories. In this anthology, we get to visit two couples from the series that we are very familiar with (Nate & Tammy along with Walker & Lara). There are also two new couples that we haven't met in previous books. One from Dark River and one from Snow Dancer. I loved all the stories, but I think it was Walker and Lara's that was my favorite. I just love the Laurens. I'm not usually a big fan of the Psy, but this family is great.

Two old favorites and two new ones.

Dawe's narration is once again wonderful. She does such an amazing job keeping the various (and MANY) voices in this series distinct enough.

I bought this on the strength of the two stories originally published in other anthologies ("Beat of Temptation" (BoT) and "Stroke of Enticement" (SoE)). However, the other two stories ended up becoming two of my favorites. I've listened to them multiple times now -- and I enjoy them just as much as BoT and SoE.

BoT gives us Nate and Tamsin's story - we know them from the main series and is a solid romance, although I got frustrated with Nate's inability to see how his actions were hurting Tami and in many ways wished she put her foot down earlier. He comes to his senses (as we know) and the ending is sweet.

SoE is one of my favorites of Singh, even counting her full length novels. There is just something about Annie and Zack's story that clicked with me. Annie is stubborn and strong, self-protective. And Zack - I love that he just "knows". It's a fun look into the power of a mating bond and what that would look like in two non-sentinal/lieutenant personalities. Simple, lovely story.

Cooper and Grace stole my heart in "Declaration of Courtship", despite their story following the traditional romance storyline -- he's tough, silent and determined to have her, but suffering and she is sweet, stubborn and determined to take care of him despite his protectiveness of her. This one is a fun repeat listen for the coaxing and convincing tactics that Cooper undertakes trying to convince Grace and her wolf to trust him.

With "Texture of Intimacy", Singh shows she can seamlessly write a story about a couple (Lara and Walker) who are still getting to know each other *after* the "fairy tale" has ended. This is a wonderful bit of writing which shows very clearly that the romance and the learning of each other doesn't end when the mating bond has snapped into place and that love has to be paired with understanding and compassion in a successful relationship. Also, Singh gives us a great peak into the lives of the Pack as they recover from recent battle and insight into some of the other primary and secondary characters we've fallen in love with throughout the series.

Story and narrator perfect

Nalini is one of my 3 favorite authors and has been for years. These short stories add a wonderful depth to the psy/changeling world. My only complaint with this audio download is that the last 2+ minutes won't play. At all. Nothing I do on any of my devices works (kindle, phone, pc) I still love the book and read the ending in the book. Any way this could be fixed?

Nice mix of short stories.

Good background on many secondary characters in the series. Love and passion are great motivators.

QUIT READING REVIEWS AND BUY IT ALREADY

I love Nalini Singh. I love all her books. And even though this is a collection of small stories in her Psy-changeling series, I love it too. I don't need to tell you what it's about or what I think because I already know you'll love it.

(Obviously read the other psy-changling books first ;)

AN ENTERTAINING INVITATION TO SHORT SWEET STORIES

These are great short stories all done by the talented author Nalini Singh and she is an automatic download with me.

Lots of romantic stories however there are certain stories I prefer over others but they all have sexy Alpha males on the prowl and tells just how they each eventually capture their mates. The tender sweet romances seem to be pretty much all each of the stories are about with lots of mental or verbal talk about the mating bond and the sexual urges but not very explicit. That and you learn more about how each pack's hierarchy works.

Worth a credit? Yes, and if you're a paranormal romance lover, then you'll agree.

Nice Collection for Fans

Any additional comments?

For fans of the Psy-Changeling series, this is a good listen. Four novellas give personal glimpses into the lives of four different couples. The focus, and conflict, remains on the couples and each story only spans a short time. Fans will love it. New comers to the series won't appreciate it as much, and I strongly recommend starting with book 1 and putting this anthology off until you are well into the series.

A WILD Ride!!

Would you listen to Wild Invitation again? Why?

Absolutely. I love Nalini Singh's psy/changeling series and have read every book in the series. The narrator brought the characters alive and made the psy/changeling world very real to the listener. Particularly with this book because it was an anthology that contained 4 separate novellas, the author was able to take each story and make it distinctive and interesting, instead of just one boring monologue. She was able to keep the listener engaged with each story change.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite In this anthology was "Stroke of Enticement", the story of Zach and Annie, followed closely by Texture of Intimacy, the story of Walker and Lara.

What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?

Ms. Dawes was able to take each story and make it distinctive and interesting. She was able to bring each character's personality alive in each story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely!! Just like when I read the book, once I started, I couldn't put it down...or in this case, stop listening.

Any additional comments?

I think that it would be beneficial to have dual (male and female) narrators for future stories. It would enhance the characters, thereby enhancing the story, exponentially.

You'll recognize the characters.....

These vignets fit right in with the series. I can hardley wait for a new book to come out, You'll recognize all of the characters and their continuing stories. it's worth the credit to listen to the short stories of their continuing lives.
