Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be simple. All Navy SEAL Nathan Malone had to do was rescue three young girls from a Colombian drug cartel, then allow himself to be captured just long enough to draw out a government spy. That was before his mission went disastrously wrong… and before his wife, Bella, was told that Nathan was never coming home.

Bella’s mourned her husband’s death for three long years, having no idea that he was still alive. Forced to assume a new identity, the man Nathan was is now dead. If he can get back to his wife, can he keep the secret of who he really is… even as desire threatens to consume them? And as danger threatens to tear Bella from Nathan’s arms once more?

Pornographic

Would you try another book from Lora Leigh and/or Clarissa Knightly?

This was the worst book I have ever chosen

What could Lora Leigh have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

She could have told the story without the extenuating sex scenes. It was definitely not a book about a Navy Seal - it was a book about sex and should have been advertised that way.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Too dramatic

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment

10% Story 90% Sex

This book had the potential to be a reasonably good story. But it went the way of the extended erotica that just gets to the point I say get it over with already...good grief. Average chapter has 2 pages of story and 10 of the sexual encounter, or maybe it just seemed that way to me.
I am not anti sex but it becomes repugnant and the story is lost to the listener. Of course I realize there is a readership for this genre.
This is totally personal but I cannot abide this narrator and will avoid in the future. This is the 3rd book I have suffered thru her narration. We are just not capable.
I love a good love story, but a story is more than this. And sex can be more than this banging.

Violent Sex is not my thing

Story started out pretty good, but then the kinky violent sex scenes started. I did not finish the book!

Very little plot development.

It was more about sex and very little plot development. Repetitive word usage as well.

Filthy Trash: I'm no prude. False advertizing

What disappointed you about Wild Card?

I read/litsten to about 2 books a week and I found this to be the most trashy, over sexed novel I have ever read. If reading about large di*** and organisms then this is the book for you. This was not in the romance/sex novel section. I thought it was an action oriented ex navy seal story, which I have read many, but this was all about a guy with a big D..... and how he couldn't relieve himself. My library has about 175 in Audible not counting many others and this is the only book that I could not finish.

What was most disappointing about Lora Leigh’s story?

Its description was about a navy seal but the story was about sex. Thank God I use an ear piece to listen. I am used to some interleaving of sex into the story because it is a part of life. But this book was a little bit of story woven around a guys, lusting, throbbing, penetrating ya da ya da.

How could the performance have been better?

I understand the premise and it could have been expressed without all of the graphic detail and it could have stayed in the background. The hero could have overcome and won in the end, I will never know because I couldn't finish.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Wild Card?

OMG - there wouldn't be much of a story left.

Any additional comments?

I have been remiss in ever giving comments. I often don't even read comments, just the story line. I wish I would have read some of the reviews first. Maybe this is a typical romance novel (not that I consider this romance) but wasn't aware. Folks, there are some really good books out there and this is not one. Try DeMille or Baldacci; you can get some romance without the graphic depiction of sex.

IRISH EYES!!!!!!!!!

6'4" OF HARD MALE
You really got to let your intelligence go on vacation to enjoy this one. It is like Lora Leigh took everything that makes women swoon and put it all in one man. He is a Navy Seal, owns his own business at the same time, drives a black wicked Harley, has dark blue eyes with overly long eye lashes, has long lean muscles, spent years collecting wine, SPEAKS GAELIC, has Irish eyes (whatever that means), and he is 6'4". He disappears for six years, comes back (he did have some plastic surgery) and his wife hires him in his old business. She does not recognize him, cause the world his full of 6'4" hard men. You ladies know several right?

Kresley Cole's werewolves and vampires are more believable then these characters.

Absolute Worst Book Ever

What would have made Wild Card better?

I skipped at least half of the majority of the chapters because of the sex. The guy was on a mission and if they wanted to capture him all they had to do was walk in the bedroom. And when you thought it couldn't get worse it did. The leak was obivious, no surprise at the end as to who was involved. While the characters couldn't figure out the story the reader was able to quite easily.

What do you think your next listen will be?

The phone book would be a better listen

Would you be willing to try another one of Clarissa Knightly’s performances?

The reader was the only good thing about this book

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disgust

Any additional comments?

Porn movies have a better plot than this book

Its not a mystery its a sexual fantasy

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The high level story is good but only takes up about 50% of the book - more time spent on the actual story and less on the very detailed sex would be more interesting to me.

What was most disappointing about Lora Leigh’s story?

The actual story was good but lacked depth, the opposite to the sex which had depth and frequency.

What three words best describe Clarissa Knightly’s voice?

The voice is good

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment
