In Molly Harper's witty new paranormal romance, a rare-book expert is delivering a package to Half-Moon Hollow when her plane goes down, and a sexy vampire comes to her rescue. He's clearly got ulterior motives, but does he want to date her...or devour her?
Delivering a rare book to a valued customer is definitely part of mild-mannered archivist Anna Whitfield's job description. You know what isn't? Protecting her precious cargo from midflight theft by the very pilot who is flying her to Half-Moon Hollow...while trying to appear as unappetizing as possible to the only other passenger, a vampire. Undead bookstore owner Jane Jameson could be waiting a very long time for her book. Possibly forever.
Fortunately, Anna's dashing fanged companion, Finn Palmeroy, helps her fend off the attack but not before their plane crash-lands in the forest hundreds of miles from civilization. Great, now she's stranded with a priceless tome and a rakish vampire whose bedtime is fast approaching. Why does everyone want this book so badly, anyway? Anna just wants to get it to Jane before Finn decides to turn her into dinner - or sweep her off her feet.
Okay, the second option is really tempting. But they're not out of the woods yet....

Fun, entertaining and awesome!
Anna!!! she is super funny...her phobias and fears just add to her quirky, and charming personality!
Right after the crash..I swear I bust out laughing!
Yes it was!
I love all of Molly Harper's work, I know I can always expect a good story, clever dialogue and funny situations...this book did not disappoint! If you like this series, this is a must listen...super great addition, with a little bit different storyline..but as always HIGHLY ENTERTAINING, And I completely recommend!!!
Love listening to audiobooks, and being swept away by a great story and narrator. It's my therapy, and I need it daily!
Molly does it again! She is such an accomplished writer whose story's are not just entertaining but well balanced with the perfect mix of adventure, romance and humor. Each story is unique, and the romance between the H/h is always sweet and sexy.
Where the Wild Things Bite is another well written, captivating plot with great characters. Anna's has a lot of fears, she a germ-phobic, anxiety prone, fears flying, loves statics, socially challenged, and hysterically babbles when she's nervous. It's amazing she even agreed to fly to Half Moon Hallow to deliver the rare book to Jane Jameson. However, she is dedicated and determine to see the book is safely delivered. Her plans for a safe quick trip go haywire, when she is sky high, and the pilot's attempt to steal the book is foiled, and he parachutes out the plan leaving her, and her annoying passenger to fend for themselves.
Luckily or not so lucky, the other passenger is a vampire named Finn whose handsome, smart, charismatic, and has stunning chocolate eyes. He takes matters into his on hands and saves Anna by jumping off the plan, and nearly gives her a heart attack in the process. They find themselves stranded in the wilderness, and this is where their wild adventure begins. I LOVED this story, and characters! It was AWESOME!
Amanda Ronconi's performance ROCKS! She always does a fantastic job on the characters, and emotions. I especially loved how she delivered all the sassy, snarky dialogue. Kudos Amanda on another awesome performance!
Molly does it again! I definitely recommend this book and all of Molly's books. The dialogue is fantastic. Narration fantastic, as always. Great plot and some great new characters. And don't forget you get to see Jane again.
Say something about yourself!
this book is about a paranoid, germophobic book lover. She boards a small plane to take a rare old book to Jane Jameson in Half Moon Hollow. She wipes down the seats and vents to prevent germs and worried about the plane. There is another passenger who is a vampire aboard also. When the pilot breaks the controls on the plane and threatens Anna to get the book she refuses. The plane is going down and while she banters with the pilot the vampire, Finn just sits there and does nothing. Finally he does help and the pilot jumps out and leaves them with the plane going down. Anna wants to strap in and brace for the crash but Finn has other ideas and grabs her and jumps out of the plane. Now they are lost in the wilderness with no working phones etc. Will they get out alive? Will Jane get her book or will someone else take it.
I love this series and this book did not disappoint.
Molly Harper is always a good read. This story does not disappoint. Great pacing with the touch of snark that her readers have come to expect. Worth the credit.
For it's genre, this is a cute, sexy, fast read that doesn't overdo the vampire element. It cured me, for now anyway, of hating all thing vampire. I recommend it as 4 stars if you like snarky humor with silly paranormal backdrops. It was just what I needed at the moment.
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a very good story. Both Anna and Finn are likable characters and I thought the story was well written and enjoyable.
Anna is a specialist in books on the supernatural. She ended up doing freelance work because a boyfriend screwed her over, stealing her thesis and her doctorate all in one fell swoop. Anna doesn't trust easily nowadays even though she's relatively happy with where she ended up (career wise).
Finn is a vampire that was born in the 1940s. He grew up with a con artist for a father and was taught all the scams and expected to help "support the family" from a young age. Finn ended up on the wrong side of some vampires a few decades ago and got turned. He has turned one person, a woman he loved that spurned him after she had her immortality.
Anna has been validating a very old book on shifters that was sent to her by Jane Jamison, a book store owner in Half-Moon Hollow. Once Anna realized how valuable and rare the book was, she decided she should return the book in person to ensure its safety. Anna ends up flying in a small plane from GA to KY and there's only one other passenger, a man (Finn) that's way too winsome for Anna's good. She tries to ignore him and read on the trip. Partway through the flight, Anna is shocked to see the pilot destroying the flight controls and putting on a parachute. The pilot then tries to accost her in order to steal the book she's delivering to Jane. The pilot doesn't get the book and bails out, leaving Anna and Finn in a crashing plane.
Finn is able to save them by holding on to Anna and jumping them both out of the plane as it plummeted to the ground, thankfully angling over a lake. They landed in the water but Finn took the brunt of the landing so Anna came out of it unharmed. Unfortunately, they soon come to the conclusion that the pilot was off their course and they crashed in an uninhabited area of Kentucky called the lake country. Anna and Finn start travelling together but she's not sure if she should trust him and her attraction to him makes thinking clearly difficult. They make their way through the woods to civilization but there are multiple issues that confront Anna and Finn both before and after they make it out of the woods. Thankfully, the drama is worked out and Finn and Anna end the story planning to explore their new relationship.
This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Anna and thought she did pretty well considering what she was confronted with and her anxiety issues. I also liked the fact that the adventure made Anna stronger and not controlled by her anxiety issues. Finn was a bit of a con man but I liked that he saw something special in Anna and was willing to make an effort to be more of a man that she'd want to be with. Overall, this was a very good story that was interesting enough that I pretty much read it from beginning to end without stop. I'd recommend this story. :)
A middle-aged romantic who grew up reading Heinlen, Louis L'Amour and Richard Hooker. Expect and honest opinion, even if it's not PC.
Starting to get annoyed with beautiful, charming female characters who carry around so many "Mommy Issues." This has to be at least the third book Ms Harper has written with this same story line and that's two too many. Having an opossum appear in every story is funny; having your main character thinking about all of the ways their mother has warped them isn't.
"it's another gem"
I love these books by Molly Harper and so well narrated by Amanda Ronconi. Neurotic heroines and bad boys with a good seasoning of humour- win win for me
Really enjoyed this book! I loved the character of Anna, she was pretty awesome. Nice to see Finn find someone that accepts him for him and makes him genuinely want to be a better man! Can't wait for the next in this series!
"Predictable storyline very similar to previous boo"
Not really. The storyline as very predictable and very similar to previous plots in this series
Excellent performance as usual
Yes definitely to add more depth to the characters
Moly Harper is usually very good and this storey falls short of the expected standard
"Good, but not the best in the series."
I love this series and this book was another good installment, although by no means the best so far. I liked the characters but the story line was rather predictable and you could see what was coming way before it happened. There was also a serious continuity issue near the end which surprised me coming from this author. That said, this was still and enjoyable, light-hearted book which was easy to listen to and enjoy. Worth a listen.
"A little disappointing"
I love Molly Harper's books but I found this one hard to get into, whereas normally I am gripped and can't stop listening. I can't really put my finger on what I didn't like about this book. I just couldn't picture it in my head.
"The best yet"
I love Molly Harper ....thought I would put that out there before I continue so you know that I am going to gush about this new release.
Molly Harper is my favourite author. Her books are funny (but not in a silly childish way), entertaining & fast paced. No boring over describing, no annoying characters, no cringe worthy scenes.
I have loved all of her books but this is probably my favourite. Perhaps because I see a bit of Anna in myself (anxiety over thinking over achieving) or it could be that it is just a really great story.
Anna confronts her worst fears & finds love, friends , a backbone , pine needle madness, employee of the year Ernie, Possums & lots of paranormals along the way.
I won't spoil it by telling you the story...just that this is a great book (audio is pretty special to) & well worth the money.
"Love these books!"
I love Molly Harper's work, I honestly can't get enough of her books. They are well written, funny and totally engrossing. You should definitely give this book a listen! Can't wait for more!
