Loved it!

What I liked most about this book was the main character. I found it very easy to sympathize with Faith, even though she had what a lot of people would think of as a scandalous past. For the most part, she comes across as a smart woman and a survivor. The other characters are equally interesting. There's the mom who acts more like a teenager, the step-son who's a prick, the assistant who turns out to be a great friend, and the hockey players who pepper the story with humor.

There were a couple of times when Ty seemed to act like a bit of a jerk, which I found annoying. However, Gibson shows that he's a good guy in the end. Overall, this book was very enjoyable, funny, and easy to listen to. I thought the narrator did a fine job.

FYI: The basic premise of this book kind of reminded me of "It Had to Be You" by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Another Winner!

Loved this book. Susan Bennett did another fabulous job of bringing the characters in this story to life. My only criticism is I wish her male voice was a bit lower then the register she used since occasionally, I wasn’t sure who was talking. I do wish I had read this book first and NOTHING BUT TROUBLE second, because I knew how this one ended because I read the other book first, but still, totally enjoyed it.

Boring

I felt that this book just kind of drug on and there was no real substance to it. The narration was not great either. The female MC was so monotone and you couldn't always tell when she was switching characters. Overall not a great story, and a very boring listen.

Question narrator choice

Book is fun. Narrator is a distraction. Seems she doesn’t have voice pitch control. Almost every sentence starts with soprano notes and then comes back to normal. Hard to get past.
Director should have noticed but didn’t.

Hockey has never been this hot...

A good story + a great narrator= an amazing audiobook you'll want to listen over and over again. When Faith Duffy's elderly husband passes away, he leaves her a whole lot of money and a hockey team as well. She was a stripper, turned Playboy bunny, turned trophy wife for the past five years. And she has absolutely no idea how to manage a hockey team. Landon (Faith's stepson who happens to be older than her) is bitter than she got any inheritance at all and will try anything in his power to destroy her. (Something like when Anna Nicole Smith became a widow). Faith hires an assistant and becomes very involved with the team (specially the captain Ty Savage).

The story is believable and interesting. The romance is sweet, hot and intense. My knowledge and interest in hockey was 0 before this book and I ended up enjoying learning about hockey. The story does make references about the game but in an interesting way that was very appropriate for the story. This is a series, and Audible does not have all the books in the series available. This is book 4 of the CHinooks Hockey Team but it can very well be read as a stand alone. Book 5 in the series is Nothing But Trouble which I'll start listening to as soon as I finish this review.

Narration: Susan Bennett did a great job with this audiobook. All of her character voices were distinct and boy oh boy she can make a steamy scene sound sizzling hot!!! There are several steamy scenes in the book and she does such a convincing portrayal of both characters that it was like she was there. I can only imagine the sound engineer who was there with her while recording uff...

I highly recommend this book to people who enjoy a good contemporary romance story with interesting and likable characters, steamy romance and great narration.

More Rachel Gibson, please!

Great book---Light, sexy and fun! Rachel Gibson does chick lit right---the relationship moves at a believable pace, good banter between the main characters and some steamy sex. The plot is not anything new, but at least it makes sense and isn't cheesy. This book is low on the nonsense and ridiculousness that you see in a lot of chick lit, and I'm not sure when it was published, but it reads more modern than the Linda Howard, Diane Steel types of books. I cringe at some of the lines in those books.

Susan Bennett does a great job with the narration, too. Thoroughly enjoyable!

This was a fun story!

I loved this! It was a fun story. Faith, a good-hearted former stripper inherits a hockey team from her late rich husband. Ty Savage, the team captain, isn't happy about it. The friction, tension and attraction between the two eventually leads to true love. This was an easy listen, and the humor and character profiles were great. I don't know why, but I could not stop picturing Cameron Diaz and Channing Tatum in these roles, which made it even that much more fun. It would make a great movie someday... (grin).

Enjoyable

I enjoy this author's writing. The storyline may not be new...but she gives it a contemporary spin. I enjoyed this one and the others about this hockey teams members. I read Any Man of Mine first and thoroughly enjoyed that love story, and the narrator. I managed with this narrator but had to work at it. I can't explain the oddity of the ear "listening" to a book. The narrator can turn off one person and another enjoys them. So it is just your preferance. However I appreciate the work they do. They make books available to me and I love Audible. I think you can enjoy this light read, relate to the characters even if you know nothing of hockey...like me.
