Publisher's summary

A MASKED MAN . . .

Winter Makepeace lives a double life. By day he's the stoic headmaster of a home for foundling children. But the night brings out a darker side of Winter. As the moon rises, so does the Ghost of St. Giles - protector, judge, fugitive. When the Ghost, beaten and wounded, is rescued by a beautiful aristocrat, Winter has no idea that his two worlds are about to collide.

A DANGEROUS WOMAN . . .

Lady Isabel Beckinhall enjoys nothing more than a challenge. Yet when she's asked to tutor the Home's dour manager in the ways of society - flirtation, double-entendres, and scandalous liaisons - Isabel can't help wondering why his eyes seem so familiar - and his lips so tempting.

A PASSION NEITHER COULD DENY

During the day Isabel and Winter engage in a battle of wills. At night their passions are revealed . . . But when little girls start disappearing from St. Giles, Winter must avenge them. For that he might have to sacrifice everything-the Home, Isabel . . . and his life.

Dreamy

If you could sum up Thief of Shadows in three words, what would they be?

Sexy, daring, entertaining

Who was your favorite character and why?

Winter, because he is everything a man should be, strong of character and decent without losing his manliness.

What does Ashford MacNab bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a very pleasant voice, her tone is soothing and really makes the characters come alive on the page. Have loved all her narrations so far.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Really not a fan of this question.

Any additional comments?

This is up there as being one of my all time favorite romances. Sexy, and intelligent. I liked that the female lead wasn't a virgin and knew what she wanted. She was smart and engaging, while Winter was truly everything I like in a man. He was strong, determined and driven.

This is such a good listen. Would love more romances like this one, not afraid of describing sex as it should be. Getting really tired over sex scenes being about flying or flowers popping in brains. Prefer them to be a bit more realistic, gritty and sexy.

Hoyt does a great job and MacNab needs to narrator more books.

Sexy with a Twist & Oh So Amazing!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Isabel was great. But I loved that we got to know Joseph TinBox better.

What does Ashford MacNab bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings the book alive. It's a movie in my mind thanks to Ashford. She is brilliant!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes yes yes! I was so intrigued with every aspect of the story...not just the romance...it was a great thrilling plot.

Any additional comments?

Winter is awesome. I was so happy we got to see him come out of his shell. It was such a twist for the guy to be the innocent and the woman is taking control. I loved the dialogue and chemistry between Winter and Isabel. I was not convinced of all the details of the ending...but loved it all anyway. A great HEA.

Best in the Maiden Lane series

Any additional comments?

I adore the Duke of Sin so it's hard for me to admit, but this is THE BEST in the series. I eagerly wait for the intimate scenes which she normally introduces about 3 hours in, but this time I was perfectly content waiting OVER 5 HOURS until anything sexy happens. The story was so sweetly arranged I didn't care. Riveting action, fresh new plot-line. 1 Question... How in the world did the Ghost manage to bring all the starving weakened lassies to his home? Did all 6-12 rescued girls walk single file in a line through the streets of St. Giles?? Or did he carry them 2 at a time over the roof tops making multiple trips? Ridiculous. I wish Lady Beckonhall could have witnessed her man in fighting action MORE though. Write another book for this couple please!!!

Not to shabby... The woman is the rogue

What did you like best about Thief of Shadows? What did you like least?

The hero had morales... The woman seemed a little stuck up

Would you be willing to try another book from Elizabeth Hoyt? Why or why not?

I really love Elizabeth Hoyt as an author as she writes a lot about the underdog. The storyline is not just about the rich and privileged.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Decent

Do you think Thief of Shadows needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I always love the happily ever afters it is always nice to get an updated of the charaters. Would also like to see a story on some of the orphaned children.

Well worth the wait!

I had discovered this series before Thief of Shadows came out. I was so curious because I really kept wondering who the ghost was. This book did not disappoint me in any way. It was also nice to get a sneak peak at the next book coming out. Ashford McNab did not disappoint, either. Although I generally like Anne Flosnick, it's nice to hear other people doing period books.

Two thumbs way up.

Love this series and Elizabeth Hoyt never disappoints not like some authors. I truly enjoyed the pairing of the monkish Winter and the experienced widow Isabelle. The Maiden Lane series is just so great. This book has it all a great story, hot romance, an excellent cast of characters, humor drama and mystery. Ashford McNabb is beyond awesome. Her timing, male and female voices, accents and talent land her in the creme de la creme of narrators. Highly recommend this book, narrator and author.

GIVE ME MORE!

I honestly thought that #3 was the best in the series but Thief was even better. Elizabeth Hoyt does an incredible job of developing these characters and the story just consumes you completely. I not only listed to this book but I actually felt it. AMAZING
