Publisher's summary

Daniel Mackenzie lives up to the reputation of the scandalous Mackenzie family - he has wealth, looks, and talent, and women love him. When he meets Violet Bastien - one of the most famous spiritual mediums in England - he immediately knows two things: that Miss Bastien is a fraud, and that he’s wildly attracted to her.

Violet knows she can’t really contact the other side, but she’s excellent at reading people. She discerns quickly that Daniel is intelligent and dangerous to her reputation, but she also finds him generous, handsome, and outrageously wicked. But spectres from Violet’s past threaten to destroy her, and she flees England, adopting yet another identity. Daniel is determined to find the elusive Violet and pursue the passion he feels for her.

Although Violet knows that her scandalous past will keep her from proper marriage, her attraction to Daniel is irresistible. It’s not until Daniel is the only one she can turn to that he proves he believes in something more than cold facts. He believes in love.

Nicely Done!

Any additional comments?

Fans have been in love with Daniel since he was a teen in book one. All grown up and he is the MacKenzie we wish was real! The book played like a movie as I listened. Loved Daniel and Violet as a couple, and was delighted to listen as the youngest MacKenzie's made appearances. Violet was welcomed by the entire family. Angela Dawe continues to do a great job in bringing these characters to life.

Daniel grows up!

After seeing Daniel MacKenzie as a funny teenager in the previous books, it was fun to see him as a full-grown man in this one. Daniel's love story is quite different from those of his father and uncles. It's not the hot, steamy romance the previous books were. Instead, it's more of an opportunity for the reader to see Daniel as a man, rather than a playful youth.

Violet is a good match for him--a nice counter weight to his hyper-privileged lifestyle. And although Daniel is certainly her knight in shining armor, it's not because she's a silly airhead. She's a smart woman caught in a truly unfortunate circumstance.

Overall, I would say that this is one of the sweetest love stories in the series.

Loved it

I'm actually glad I ignored some of the other reviews that said the series just kept going downhill. I agree that books 4 & 5 could have been better. But Daniel has been my favorite character in the series, and his book doesn't let down.

Could not finish

The story was not bad, but the narrator was so bad I just could not take any more. She has no acting skills. She reminds me of the female version of Robin Leach, host of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Imagine that voice trying to deliver a romantic encounter in any way sexy...not good

OMG... I love the MacKenzie family!

I have, for the most part, loved all of these books in this series, thus far, but this one has been my favorite. I love everything about Daniel MacKenzie. The voice that the narrator gives him is one of my favorites. The other two are Ian and Mac's. But I just love Daniel's insight, attitude, and fierce loyalty. I also love the way these brothers (or in the case of this book, uncles) and their wives all stick together and take care of each other. In my dreams, I'd love to be a part of a family like theirs.

Definitely a great read. Highly recommend.

Finally Daniel's Book!

I've read the almost the entire series on Audible and Daniel Mackenzie was one of my favorite charcters. I'm glad that the author moved the story along so that we could see him all grown up and falling in love. The narrator Angela Dawe is one of my favorites. She always does a great job. If you haven't already, get the rest of the series. They are all credit worthy in my opinion.
