Publisher's summary

Hoping to escape unwanted celebrity in the aftermath of a notorious incident, Ramsey Hunt settles in the Rockies, determined to bury himself in the safety of a solitary existence. But his isolation is shattered when he stumbles upon a small girl unconscious in the high-altitude forest.

When strangers pursue Ramsey to his private meadow in an attempt to kill him and the girl, he's mystified that anyone would wish her harm. And the child can't shed any light on the subject: she's mute.

Molly Santera, the girl's mother, catches up with Ramsey and her daughter, mistaking her daughter's savior for a kidnapper. But soon Ramsey's real role becomes clear. With the strangers in pursuit, the trio flees to Chicago for sanctuary. Even there, however, the child's enemies prove as relentless as their motives are baffling.

With an unexpected assist from FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock (last seen in The Maze), Molly and Ramsey begin to unravel the clues, and in the process they make an astonishing discovery as to the true nature of the target.

Listen to another FBI Thriller.

This is the last one in this series that I will read

There are a lot of good things about this book. However, the last third of the book ruined me on both this book and the author. I blame the editors for not being honest with the author. There were far too many attempts to keep the story alive for no real reason. Also, some of the random statements were not accurate. For example, only X number of people could make a shot from X yards. No, deer hunters do it all the time. The character development is good so the author clearly has talent but I can’t make myself read another one of these books.

The Target

I felt this book was well written. The story certainly kept me interested and looking forward to picking up where I left it earlier. Liked the mystery of the story, the progression and loved the end. In the beginning I was trying to figure out what was bothering me. I finally realized, I didn't really like the way Sharon Williams read the part of Emma.

Enjoyed but slow on character building

Enjoyed the story. Found the characters a little slow on developing. Liked the interaction between the child and adults.

kept me listening all night

this was a joy to listen to and I was sorry it ended. the story just carried you along with no dull moments as you became familiar with the characters and their place in the action.Sharon Williams did a 12 star performance . A good narrator makes all the difference. Looking for other books narrated by her. Catherine Coulter's name on a book usually means hours of great reading/listening and this one did not disappoint.

EXCELLENT

This was well written, start to finish. I didn't realize I had not read this until I started reading another book with Judge Dredd in it.
