Publisher's summary

Successful businessman Ryan Bennett had agreed to masquerade as his wealthy cousin for a blind date.

But from the moment Ryan saw Julie Nelson to the moment he should have said good-night, he was captivated and couldn't resist an invitation to share her bed. In the hazy afterglow of their heated lovemaking, Ryan confessed his true identity, claiming the passion between them was real despite his deception, but Julie wasn't buying it. Obviously she considered him the enemy.

Except now she was having the enemy's baby.

Good Character Chemistry

What made the experience of listening to The Substitute Millionaire the most enjoyable?

This was a quick book - I was finished with it by the second day. The plot was a bit predictable - but the characters were likable and had great chemistry.

What other book might you compare The Substitute Millionaire to and why?

This book could be compared to any other paperback romance novel... but it's always nice to read a simple romance story with a happy ending.

Short

Not the most well developed story written by Susan Mallery
Definitely felt like other Mallery books so still happy but maybe by the end of the series I will feel like I read one of her other books.

Colour Me Impressed

Where does The Substitute Millionaire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really enjoyed this book. The plot wasn't unrealistic and the characters were a lot of fun to read. Their words, their reactions, their fears and insecurities were extremely well portrayed. The dialogue was realistic. I'm new to audio books and now I am hooked.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Favourite character was Julie. A romantic heroine with spunk and a straight shooter. Nothing wrong with being strong. She wasn't perfect and struggled for a long while with her trust issues just like most of us. I loved her sense of humour and the love she felt for her family.

Which scene was your favorite?

At the end when Ryan intervened and stated that Julie didn't have to marry him, that all he wanted was for Julie to be happy and of course he said the most beautiful three letter phrase: I love you. It was all Julie needed to hear.

A sweet intriguing surprise with intense romnce

I really liked this story because it was intriguing from the start. It captured my interest and took me on this little adventure into love with Ryan and Julie. The passion between them is palpable. It was just so intense. Once you listen you will know what I mean, I wanted to scream at Ryan for Julie. Ryan is a redeemable likable guy and you will see why Julie falls for him. The narrator really made the characters come to life. I will definitely get the next story in this series.

1st in series about 3 sisters finding love

New romance trilogy. 3 sisters meet an estranged grandmother and the 1st sister gets involved with a pair of cousins. Fast moving story with a simple plot that introduces the characters of the series. The narration is pretty good for the female roles but not overly great for the guys part. It would have been better with dual narration.

Not bad...not bad at all.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes. It was a quick listen with a good story premise. For the price, it was worth it. It got me through a couple of hours at work.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I thought the voice actor did a really good job. She was clear and great with inflection.

Any additional comments?

Was this the best book? No. However, it was an entertaining listen.

Lightweight entertainment

Would you consider the audio edition of The Substitute Millionaire to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the printed version.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Predictably sweet and loving...sweethearts live happy ever after.

Have you listened to any of Savannah Richards’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't recall listening to Ms. Richards before so can't do a comparison.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really---like most books in this genre it was predictable.

Any additional comments?

None

Short Story, really cute storyline!

I decided on this book because one of my favorite narrators is Savannah Richards and as usual, she did not disappoint in giving these characters the perfect voices that showed us their personality and just really elevated the story.

Even though the storyline was unrealistic, I still really enjoyed it and will finish the series, although I hate it when authors change the narrator when doing a series and we all connect the original voice from the first narrator to the character. I will still give it a try and I'm hoping book two is as good as book one.

Confusing start

After I was able to gwt through the 1st chapter a couple of times I was finally able to understand what they were talking about. I have listened to Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold series & thought I'd venture onto another series. Overall she didn't disappoint. It was a good read.
