When Edwin Barlow, the Earl of Blakeborough, agrees to help his best friend's impetuous ward, Lady Clarissa Lindsey, in her time of need, he knows that he's in for trouble. He's been hunting for someone to wed, and she'll just get in the way. Although captivated by the witty, free-spirited beauty, he fears that she'd be all wrong as a wife...if she would even take such a gruff cynic for her husband. Yet he wants nothing more than to have her for his own.
Clarissa has no intention of marrying anyone - not Edwin, whom she's sure would be an overbearing husband, and certainly not the powerful French diplomat stalking her. But when matters escalate with the diplomat, she chooses Edwin's gallant offer of a marriage between friends in hopes that it will deter her stalker. She expects nothing more than an amiable union, but their increasingly tempestuous kisses prove more than she bargained for. When her stalker's vow to expose the lovers' deepest secrets threatens to destroy their blossoming attraction, will their tenuous bond withstand public ruin, or will Edwin lose all that's important to him to protect his bride?

This book started out a little bit slow but after about 50% really picked up and turned out great. Although the first half you did get to know the characters pretty good.
I loved these characters. Clarissa was strong, funny, witty, and just fantastic considering what she went through. Loved her.
Edwin was awesome! Handsome with a dry sense of humor, and spoke plainly. If he thought it he said it. Which made for some LOL moments. They had some great chemistry together and the attraction was real and genuine. I loved these two together! Great match.
The story line and plot was great! It has a little mystery, a villain, OMG moment, and some of the best sex scenes written. The Study of Seduction was the perfect name for this book. There was so much fantastic dialogue throughout the entire book! Loved it.
As for the narration, I really like Beverly Crick these days, well for the past year I think. She gets better and better! She does a great job on the mens voices, the accents are great, her reading voice is very nice and she reads with lots of emotion, laughing, crying, giggling, sighing etc. Everyone gets their own distinct voice. Just fantastic, she has made my favorite narrator list.
Totally recommend this book!
This was quite good. I liked both main characters and the story moved along nicely
Secrets are a big part of this genre and they play a big part in this story. I thought this was well done and I enjoyed it.
The narration was good, too. Well done by author and narrator! Now I want more.
This story kept me involved and at times made me want to smack both the male and female characters in the book. I truly enjoy stories like this.
