Philandering Charmer!

I really enjoyed this second book in the series. Even though Alex is a philanderer he is still so charming, sensitive (in a warrior way) and very funny. Glynis was just as delightful. She is no shrinking violet....more of a dandy lion. She was not afraid to speak her mind, as well as, learn from mistakes and move on.

I'm glad they are staying with the same narrator for all the books. He did a nice job.

I do agree with the reviewer 'Candateshia Pafford' about reading book 1 first. There is a lot of prophecy that comes true in book 2 that is quite funny and poignant. If you don't know the prophecies the story will feel flat, leave you a little confused, and you'd miss out on a good laugh.

Looking forward to Duncan's adventure next!

WELL MM'S DONE IT AGAIN - YOU'LL LAUGH, CRY & SIGH

Be prepared to be swept away and transported to the Highlands of Scotland as MM paints a vivid picture where the lucky listener can find Medieval Clans, myths, legends and proud Scottish Warriors who believe in fighting for their honor, their fellow Clansmen and, of course, their love.

This expertly written compelling story has everything for us H(Highland)R lovers and starts with an old Seer's predictions that lead to a thrilling plot that includes passion, destiny, intrigue, desire, duty and pride (mmm it was delicious). As Alex, the handsome, virile, fearless, blonde, kilt wearing, claymore weilding Highland hero (oh phew... I'm a gonner!) and Glynis embark on their turbulent journey there's instant attraction and sexual chemistry then Glynis slowly transforms him from being an arrogant 'love em and leave em' scoundrel into a changed man (and yes, he's even more yummy now).

However, along the way the lovers get embroiled in feuding clans, greed, marriage bargains, secrets, suspense and surprises and, as MM seemlessly blends an action-packed thrilling, plot with humour, witty banter, passion, sex, romance and sub plots she then infuses it with a bounty of secondary characters who enrich this multi-layered story. Finally, DP's Scottish brogue, when added to the narration, brings to life the tale so we, the all too willing spectators, can share in the imagery and events held within this book.

Worth a credit? Oh aye it was a bonnie bonnie book an well wirth yer wee credit an I think this cood be a stand alone listen but wen yu've hurd this yur gonna want ta listen ta book 1 too, so dinne waste yur time start there.

Great Sequal.. one of the best Highlander series!

Wow...Alex story was awesome. I so had to go back to book 1 and listen to the prophecy of for four highlander's women... and it was so funny when Alex meet Glynis and she had pox! I laughed out loud when they started ooze off her face! OMG! This was so good. You must get book one to really enjoy book 2... You really need to pay attention to the prophecy in the very beginning of book 1. Each Highlander will get their women that way. This was just so good. Alex was the player of the group too, I didn't think his book would be this soon...but I am so glad it was. I can't wait for Duncan... I hope he get his gal! I have already pre-ordered!!! Best highlander series... This is actual better than Maya Bank's McCabe Brother Series and that is saying a lot...because I loved that series... that series was all 3 to 4 stars!!! Smex was really cute and fairly decent.. Not a whole lot of it in here, but enough to go along with this story.

Narration was great.

A great buy/credit.

Great Narration

The story is basically about the life of Alex, the brother of the Chieftain of their clan. Alex is a gorgeous warrior who loves to fight, wench and tell stories. Glenna is the fiery, outspoken daughter of the Chieftain of a neighboring clan. Alex has sworn not to marry, and Glenna has swore never to remarry-- having knifed her husband and been set-aside.

The story moved a little too slow to hold my interest, so it took me awhile to finish it, but the last several chapters were very good with lots of action. All-in-all it was a decent read. The hero and heroine were likeable. The author did not use a lot of filler words, did a good job with her descriptions, and the sexual scenes were not too long nor too frequent, although it was often on Alex's mind.

The narration was superb. I will look for more books narrated by Derek Perkins.

Best Listen in Quite a While

What made the experience of listening to The Sinner the most enjoyable?

It was more realistic and the changes and emotions of the characters were deep and came through clearly.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Sinner?

Alex finding the little girl.

Which character – as performed by Derek Perkins – was your favorite?

Alex. His character was likeable in book 1, but Mr. Perkins brings out the depth of the character, layer by layer. He is outstanding in each character portrayal.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and practically did.

Sexy HOT Highland Escape!

I couldn't put this book down. I looked forward to Alex's story and was NOT disappointed. This was a delicious second book in the series "The Return of the Highlanders"
One of the best Highlander series I have listened to so far. Loved it!

I am not a fan of male narrators for romance novels, so Derek Perkins is fine and not a turn off, but not my preference.

Listen to the entire series...it is well worth it!

Great Performance, Great Book

This is the second in the series and it didn't diappoint. The narrator does and AWESOME job with the Gaelic which is why I think this entire series is credit worthy. For a male narrator he does very good and varied female voices. He's the best male narrator for the romance genre that I've found so far. As far as the story goes, I really liked the main characters in this book. Glynis and Alex are both very likable. Alex is the "bad boy" of the 4 friends the series is based on but you can't help liking him. The writer also doesn't ignore the secondary characters and they can sometimes outshine the leads. I particularly liked Claire and the "White Knight".

I loved it!

I loved everything about this book. I laughed, I cried. I am a sentimental fool when it comes to matters of the heart. I felt for both characters through the ups and owns, the battles of the times in Scotland. It was a difficult time to live and love. Great book.
