Perfectly fulfilled my expectations - and more!

This book has all the elements I had been anticipating and craving - believable and compelling characters, realistic romantic relationship development, intricate time travel weavings, heart tugging emotion, cinematic landscapes, thrilling adventure. In my stress filled life and many long hours of being a captive in my car and traffic, this was the perfect balm to my senses. It transported me to a stimulating, calming and welcoming place. I was sorry to see it end and can't wait for the next book by this author. I also loved Winter Sea, by this author - she is a gem!

The narrator was also a well-chosen note to this wonderful story. Highly recommended!

A truly beautiful story

I loved every minute of this story so much it was hard to take my earbuds out to get some sleep! It was touching and heartwarming and I was so sad to see it end. Didn't see the twist at the end coming and I want more from this author!

lovely story

The timeline was a bit confusing at the end but I did enjoy the book. I finished it in three days. If you like time travel and romance I would recommend this book.

Engaging story

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The beginning of the story was a little slow to get started but once the premise was established you kept wanting to see what was going to happen next. It was an engaging and enjoyable listen

Certainly NOT a romance!

This ends up being a very interesting story with historical elements, questionable time travel, and a kiss or two. So for me that did not meet my expectations as far as a romance. The time travel aspect is cool but the explanation is weird and it seems it would have just been better to be vague. Not to mention, when Eva does go back in time and meets Daniel, he instantly believes that she has traveled through time with no questions asked and then proceeds to have no questions at all about the future. Seems rather unlikely to me. They develop a relationship and that's fine but certainly not passionate by any standard. Not that I expect all romance novels to be scandalous! I just have a different expectation when it is labeled as such! I was an okay story but I found myself arguing with all the details until the end.

Wonderful Story

This is a beautiful romance, reminded me of the film Somewhere In Time. The characters are wonderful and the ending just perfect. The narrator did a wonderful job, this is a great feel good read.

"OK' sums it up

I, like many other readers, picked this book and The Winter Sea due to the similarities w/the Outlander series. The story line is OK, but it is an effort to keep up with the story and to keep interested. This is not a book (as with The Winter Sea) that I can't wait to get back to. I just keep thinking that the story line is going to get better and be more interesting. There is not enough character development and I don't really feel "connected". I doubt I will be purchasing any more books from this author.

Fantastic.

Susanna Kearsley is fast earning a place along side my other favorite authors. ( Diana Gabaldon and Julie Garwood) I love the way she weaves past and present. Her characters are all larger than life, very likable and colorful. I wish there was a book 2 or 3. Nicola Barber does a great job narrating. This is the 2nd of her books I have gotten and I will definitely buy another of her books.
