Publisher's summary

The historic hotel in Boonsboro has endured war and peace, the changing of hands, and even rumored hauntings. Now it’s getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett’s social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there’s another project he’s got his eye on: the girl he’s been waiting to kiss since he was sixteen.

After losing her husband and returning to her hometown, Clare Brewster soon settles into her life as the mother of three young sons while running the town’s bookstore. Though busy and with little time for romance, Clare is drawn across the street by Beckett’s transformation of the old inn, wanting to take a closer look… at both the building and the man behind it.

With the grand opening inching closer, Beckett is happy to give Clare a private tour - one room at a time, in between blueprint meetings and kindergarten pickups. It’s no first date, but these stolen moments are the beginning of something that could arouse the secret yearning that resides in Clare’s independent heart - and open the door to the extraordinary adventure of what comes next....

Another enjoyable story from N. Roberts

Though the story is enjoyable, did not like narration. A male voice reading female romance novel, as well as trying to mimic female and children's voices was quite annoying at times.

I Liked But Not the Best.

Not sure I will listen to book 2. A nice love story but not sure what I think of the ghost.

Was a slow start for me and I was having a hard time staying focused but the story turned in a love story with a twist. I recommend this book.

Close to home

This could've been me 20 years ago. Minus a few story elements. I was divorced with 3 boys. Ex husband was military and went to Iraq for desert shield/storm. When he left we had one n one on the way. I was young. When he came home neither of us were the same. Add another child and a few more years and we are divorced. A woman with three kids knows what a handful her life is. I met a guy, and we dated and my boys adored him. He got down on his knees in the snow to ask my boys if he could marry me. I was gun shy and told him no a couple times already. My married life hasn't been anything I wanted to do again. But with that gesture I was a goner. 20 years and 2 daughters later I give my boys credit for picking a better husband and father than I had done on my own. This story brought back so many memories of being a single mom...the stress, worries and seemingly endless days. Including my guy dressing up when we took the boys trick or treating!
It's a great story. Read/listen for yourself!

Great!

One of the best I've read from Nora. All of the characters we so easy to like. Good plot- just a touch of her usual supernatural.

Sweet, hot & cute!

Ok, I am giving all 5 stars because I really did enjoy the story, chemistry of characters, strength in the characters & variety in subjects. I also really enjoyed the narrator's voice, range of tones & pace......when I sped up my app to 1.6x. I did see other reviews about the pace of narration, but I usually listen at 1.3x, so I figured I was good. I didn't even try it at 1.0x, since 1.3x was still too slow for my preference. Other than the speed, I loved it!

The voice

I really enjoyed the story but it took three times for me to get through the beginning. The reader made it hard for me and then I was finally able to get into the story. Love the story of Claire and Beckett.

Just okay

A predictable story with a slight leaning into the super natural with a female ghost that might or might not influence two potential lovers. Roberts writes this book with a light hand and little imagination, but as always, her competent craftsmanship is appreciated.
