Publisher's summary

It's been 12 years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved. Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed, and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both 14. Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there's a complication to their instant feelings for one another - Will, Tru's boyfriend of two years.

Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can't refuse - travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake. Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the world's most notorious womanizer?

Good performance of a predictable story

Wow, this book took a long time to really catch my interest. Tru has to be the most indecisive female lead ever! She must have whiplash from how often and how quickly she changes her mind. Jake is your typical bad boy rocker with a bad childhood. As expected, he self medicates with drugs, alcohol and women. The one redeeming value is that they were childhood best friends and it's interesting seeing how that affects their relationship.

sooo emo

The characters kinda drove me nuts with all the extremes and emotional decisions. The choices made in the final chapter didn't flow as well, leaving me wondering how the final conflict could be considered resolved. And then it was abruptly over! An epilogue is definitely in order. Or maybe there is a book 2? But my investment in the couple is just not sufficient to warrant a whole nother book. I would have liked to hear how they learned to trust one another again over time, how they learned to balance his celebrity with her concerns, how he copes with the next challenge down the road in a more healthy way. Otherwise they may have just made more empty promises again....

fabulous book!

i absolutely loved this book, after reading it once i returned to the beginning and read it again and i never do that. i might read a book more than once but never back to back. i just did not want to let these characters go yet. the story was very good, it kept my attention but i loved all the characters especially Jake. the author wrote the good boy - bad boy lead character as sexy as hell and i just could not get enough of him but she wrote all the other characters just as well. i really did not want it to end.
i have to comment on the narrator, i have listened to several book narrated by Justine Eyre and frankly have hated most of them and i almost passed on this book because she was the narrator but i went ahead and got the book anyway as i was intrigued by the story line and i have to say she (the narrator) made the book come alive for me. Ms. Eyre did a wonderful job. To me the conversations between all the characters no matter where they were or what topic i felt like i was eaves dropping on conversations that were taking place. Bravo Ms. Eyre, good job!

Repetitive indecisive self absorbed codependent

The author knows how to write good chemistry. I appreciated the slow burn between Tru and Jake at the beginning. By the middle though, I was ready to run away from the very needy, overdramatic Jake. Talk about the cons of dating a rock star. He became very annoying and he didn’t have to be. Add Tru’s cheating on a great guy who loved her, and this relationship ended up feeling like it had a coat of grease on it that wouldn’t come off. So disappointing. And repetitive. Like Tru said the same thing over and over again. All the time. No.

Loved the Emotion!

So I really loved the emotional connection our characters had.

But the heroine drove me crazy sometimes with her childishness and insecurities. The misunderstandings that could have been prevented if she'd have LISTENED to him instead of run away drives me crazy.

Still a great love!

A Whiny Romance

Would you try another book from Samantha Towle and/or Justine Eyre?

The story was pretty good but the main character's inner monologue was really annoying and long-winded.

Would you recommend The Mighty Storm to your friends? Why or why not?

Maybe with the caveat that the main character is kind of annoying.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrators voice was a bit nasally.

LOVE Alpha Rocker Guys!!!

Great story, tons of back story and in depth into both characters as well as insight into sub characters. I don't really like the whole love triangle thing but it did work. I absolutely LOVED this story. There was a tad bit of wishy washy stuff in the early stages and then some "normal" issues with them later dealing with the whole cheating thing. Justine Eyre did well, of course, she always does. Writing was great I will listen to more from Samantha Towle.

good story but a slow start

This book was good, but took a minute to get moving. it was also rather predictable until ch. 25 or so. The narrator was great and kept me entertained.

In the eye of the storm ...

I love Jake and Tru. The story was captivating and hard to put down. I also loved the supporting characters ... Stewart was brilliant and always one step ahead of the two of them, and Simone was every bit the best friend you want in your corner. Great listen.... I think I might have to reread this before I move on to my next book.

I also thought Jane Eyre did an amazing job of portraying each character and giving them depth, from the main characters to the body guards. Each character was well developed and brought to life through her spoken words.

just okay.

it was okay. i think the story was fine, but it was the narrator that did it for me. her voice is too old for this character and i kept feeling grossed out during sex scenes with this deep, but far-from-sultry voice describing everything. it was killing me. ::sigh:: maybe they'll get smart and switch for the next book because i doubt i'd consider listening to it if they choose the same gal. sorry. i'd rather read it.
