Enjoyed the story line and how the author wove in telling the back story with the diary.

Liked the strong woman being an equal partner with her husband. Christina is a wonderful character.

Yes another 5 star rating!

The first book in the Crown's Spies series. Susan Duerden does a wonderful job of narrating this one. What I liked most was the unique plot. The prologue nicely set the stage for this, as well as for Christina's character, and Jessica's journal developed this plot nicely without interfering with Lyon and Christina's romance, which was rather whirlwind and angry, but tender and joyful as well. Christina being raised by Natives and then returning to England to honour her mother's request. Christina is one amazing character, and she never leaves one feel bored. Christina made me laugh. She's proud and strong willed and Lyon loves that about her. I love it when she divorces Lyon for shaming her. I love his reaction too. But most of all I love how she has everyone so damn confused, but so convinced of her sincerity that they'll do anything she asks, no matter how ridiculous it is from their point of view. And Lyon there is no words to describe him, he is gorgeous and very very stubborn but he is definitely not the only one. The witty dialog between the couple constantly made me laugh and smile. In fact, this book caused me to laugh a lot. If you are looking for an amazing love story with lots of funny moments than I highly recommend this audiobook.

IT'S A WORTHY FIVE STAR LISTEN

This book is full of GREATS - the narration, the author, the storyline, the dialogue, the characters, their chemistry and, of course, the romance.

It's all been said before by my fellow reviewers so all that I can add is that it was a joy to listen to this different, action packed tender, sweet, sad, funny, emotional story that stands out from the crowded bookshelves because it did such a good job of mentally time travelling you to a bygone era and feeding you a romance that nourishes your mind as well as your heart.

Worth a credit? Absolutely YES.

I Love this series

Would you consider the audio edition of The Lion's Lady to be better than the print version?

They are both fantastic, I like that I can listen to a book in the car on the way to work, and when I am unable to listen, I can read where I left off.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lion's Lady?

I really loved the opening story of Christina's Dakota Family. I was so detailed, it really makes the reader understand Christina later on in the story.

I also loved the interaction with Christina and one of Lyon's "ladies", it was HYSTERICAL!!

What does Susan Duerden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved Susan Duerden's narration. A lot of the reviews were complaining that she whispered too much. A lot of the dialogue required whispering, so I wasn't quite sure what the complaints were about.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh ya if I had the time, I would have. I did finish it in under 2 days though.

Any additional comments?

Julie's Historical's are ALWAYS worth the credit. I can't wait for Guardian Angel, The Gift, and Castles.

Great Story....lost a nights sleep!

I realy enjoy Julie Garwood's books and this was no exception. I can say that I was exceptionally pleased that the story was unique and the interactions between the main characters was very entertaining and made me smile. The narrator was great, but I did have a problem with some of the older male voices in the beginning of the book, but not enough to distract from the story.

Love the Story

Would you consider the audio edition of The Lion's Lady to be better than the print version?

No

Who was your favorite character and why?

Christina

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Her voice has a monotonous way of trailing off in the same sing-song manner at the end of each sentence. The gravelly tone of the male characters is annoying at best, and they all sound the same with the exception of Rhone whose voice she manages to make clear, and distinctive.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I am not yet finished, because I can only listen to the narrator for short periods of time, but the story has me coming back to it faithfully.

Any additional comments?

I got the entire Crown's Spies series, and am dismayed that all are narrated by the same narrator.
