A truly unique and sometimes funny love story.

This was a unique love story that was so entertaining that I found myself listening to it in the middle of the night. The characters had interesting personalities that you will love or hate.

Don't let the beginning fool you. I must admit I almost didn't get past chapter one but forced myself. I didn't like the character voices at all at the beginning. I thought the men (especially Lyon) sounded creepy, not sexy and Christina's voice was like a baby rather than a strong young woman. Before I knew it I realized I was actually thoroughly enjoying myself. The story drags you in and soon you are rooting for Chrsitina, proud that she may be tiny and delicate but like a true lioness underneath the surface. This book will make you laugh in all the right places. It has everything a good historical romance should have. I got past my issues with the narrator and soon relaized each voice was pretty perfect for each charator. Rosalyn Landor is still my all time favorite narrator but in the end this one was pretty darned perfect.

Really enjoyed this story. I've listened to it 3 times in the past few years. Highly recommended.

The first book of a great series

Another of Garwood's best, this is the first of a great series. Lyon is a stirring and seductive hero and his unique princess wife is a very unusual and endearing heroine. She has an different background which makes for some very amusing interactions between the two. While Lyon remains the tall, dark and mysterious handsome hunk throughout, he is constantly thrown off guard by the princess's charm and unique perspective on life. And she remains an influence in book 2 as well, which is part of why the whole series is great reading. I flew through all 4 books.

Comfort Food for the Romantic Soul

This is a book that I have read multiple times I love it so much. When I saw it had been made into an audio book, I just had to get it. I realize that this is not a new book as it was published in 1991 and maybe it is dated to some people but to me it is timeless. When the book opens, it takes place in the American West and it may leave you wondering how it gets to England. Just hang on a little longer, it gets there is a really fun way. I know if you're a sucker for historical romance like I am, you'll love this one.

Also, I think Susan Duerden does a great job narrating and I have loved her voices in multiple books I have purchased. She even captures the male voices really well and is very convincing. Very credit worthy book but remember it is a book that was first published 20 years ago.

Wonderful story & narration

Loved this book, The characters were such interesting individuals. The slow revelation of the heroine's story, interwoven with the love story worked beautifully.

Absolutely LOVED it! Credit worthy!

This is one of Garwood's best! I was hooked from the first few minutes. Romance, mystery, drama, humor, excitement......this book has everything! I didn't want to press pause. Well developed story.....well developed romance.......well developed characters. I really can't find a weak element of this book. I LOVED IT! Susan Duerden is extremely talented as a narrator. I'm always shocked when I hear her male voices after a few books by other narrators....she does have a different male voice style but after a few minutes it's all good and she makes the story come alive.

Very well done. Narrator is perfect. Julie Garwood stories my comes alive. It's one of my favorites to this day.
