Lucky Morgan has had her share of heartbreak. She is devastated when her boyfriend dumps her after sleeping with him, and she vows to herself that she won't be used again. She decides that the next guy she dates and sleeps with, will be her one true love.
Zane Beaumont is a mysterious and snooty guy that comes into her diner every Friday night, always with a different girl. He's the type of guy she has learned to avoid: carefree, fast, handsome, rich, and sarcastic. Unfortunately, she can't stop thinking about the devilish gleam in his eyes.
When Lucky's car breaks down one night after a party, it is Zane who comes to her rescue. As Zane attempts to sweep Lucky off of her feet, she soon realizes that nothing is as it seems - Zane may very well be the guy for whom she changes the rules. That is until she meets Braydon...

My biggest complaint is that it is completely illogical. I mean my brain was screaming "WHAT THE HELL?" the whole time I was reading. You can't connect to characters, or a story for that matter, if their actions or responses make no sense. The dudes seem to exhibit multiple personality disorder yet she continues to hang out with them. She withdraws from school during her last semester to take a job working for Dude A which requires her to travel across the country the very next day (this is a decision made in a manner of seconds, btw). Huh???? They don't really know each other, he acts like a total chauvinist and even manhandles her and she's willing to drop out of school for some job she knows virtually nothing about?
Love all romance, dark romance, romantic comedy and suspenseful romance!
Loved Zane and Lucky's story. This couple experiences a lot of drama due to pasts of heartache. Can't wait to see how the rest of their story unfolds!
It's all about romance in my library! I have a wonderful husband, children and my grandchildren they are my rock.
I don't know.
The story line was good in the beginning, then I feel the author was rushing things and left you hanging. I guess there might be another book coming. I hope the second book will explain more to the story.
She was very passionate, but men voice needed to sound more maxim.
Yes and no - They were need a good screen writer to fill in the empty parts that needed to be addressed.
It wasn't the worse book I have listened to, it had some good scenes but overall, I don't think I would recommend it.
There I was, listening to a story, maybe not the best story, but a story that had potential....then all of a sudden, it was just over. The lead man did a complete turn around. One page he was one character, the next page he was a different character, then the story was just over. It's like the author had a word quota, and when she hit it, that was all. I'm just not sure.
Enjoy listening to a narration of a great book.
This is one of J.S. Cooper's older novels and you can tell her writing has improved through the years.
As to the story line, I find it is strong, with like able characters, Lucky, Zane and his brother Brayden. Unfortunately Lucky finds herself in a love triangle she did not wish to be in. If one brother would only professes his love for her, she would know she is not being played.
Because this is book 1 of 4, I will not comment more.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” - Dr. Seuss
I am writing this as I listen to chapter 11 of 17 and I honestly don't think I will make it to the end. Unreasonable, unjustified jealousy on the heroine's part from the beginning and cold, unexplained asshole behavior from the "hero" ... I don't like either one of them and could give a crap if they get together - and I am well over half way through the thing. By now I'd like to know a little something about the hero, have seen *some* sort of redeeming quality in him ... half way fallen in love with him myself. But I honestly don't know what she sees in him ... other than his "hotness". To be fair, I don't really see what he sees in her either.
Might be that it just isn't hitting any of my buttons ... but this was not a good fit for me. :/
I loved the tension and love that came with this story
I wouldn't compare this book to any other that I have read and I love that it's not like others
When Zane finally explained what happened to his brother
I'm ready for more!
