Enter law student Gabrielle O'Callaghan. For Gabrielle, cursed with the ability to see both worlds, Mortal and Faery, it is the beginning of a long, dangerous seduction. But as Adam's quest to regain his immortality plunges them into a world of timeless magic, the price of surrender could be their very lives. Unless they can thwart the conspiracy that threatens both Mortal and Faery realms...and give them a shot at a destiny few mortals ever know: glorious, wondrous, endless love.
Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

"Moning excels at crafting sexy, brawny and brainy Scotsmen, and Adam Black in his Highland blacksmith glamour is one of the best. There's enough sexual tension here to fuel half a dozen normal romances." (The Contra Costa Times)
"Nonstop action for fans of paranormal romance: another lusty fantasy from Moning." (Kirkus)
Listening to books has changed my life! I now look forward (well, sort of) to my hour-long commute.
I love the Highlander Series! I am binge-listening. One more to go. Can't wait to find out what happens.
My first book by this author and I hate to say I was bored out of my mind after the initial half of the book. I felt the book quickly lost that draw needed to have it be a page turner and what I felt could have been a great story soon became a book I listened to by fast forwarding. So I definitely did not enjoy this one. Sorry
The narrator was great with all voices except the highlander himself. The voice was not only NOT sexy it was so bad I cringed.
Adam Black is sooooo bad, he's good! I love this Highlander book so much because it shows that how we perceive someone on the outside, what they show to to us thru their words or actions just may have some really good reasons for those actions on the inside. All the other things that have been said about Adam or actions that he's taken in the other Highlander books make complete sense now. The oft-times seemingly cruel and always mischievous Adam meets his ultimate match in the intrepid and feisty Gabby as they team up to try and outrun or at least evade the certain death that stalks them across the American mid-west all the way to Europe and into the Highlands of Scotland, they must do the impossible and attempt to summon the elusive Fairy Queen to save their lives, the human race and even all of the Fairy before it's too late. But will they succeed or will they lose all including each other?
Of course. Listening to the story while at work is one I found my favorite things.
Adam Black of course. I knew Adam was good after all! I love this storyline, plot, and characters!
This book is a must read!! The first 10 minutes, I wondered if I had made a mistake but oh my goodness when it took off, it took off! The love scenes will burn your ears! I listen during the day while at work and laughed out loud several times before catching myself and was embaressed when I had to turn my head to keep anyone from seeing me cry in parts of the book! This book is awesome!
I love Adam Black. I'm going back and listening to Beyond the Highland Mists to hear how Adam has changed over time.
Phil Gigante rocks this series! He knocks it out of the park in this one. He tackles more characters including multiple Highland hunks meaning he has to distinguish multiple Scottish accents. He also does a wide range of emotions - female crying, laughter, disbelief, sarcasm, humor, love and I felt them all! Phil has definitely fine tuned his female voices.
When Gabrielle finally breaks down and cries, i could feel the emotion in Phil's narration that it brought tears to my eyes. An audiobook brought tears to my eyes! It's that good.
Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series is getting better with each book. The characters are stereotypical, but as someone else mentioned, its a nice escape. I am so hooked, I'll be really sad when I have completed the series.
Phil Gigante does it again. His burr was just seductive and elevated the story. But it was still about Adam Black's HEA with Gabrielle O'Callaghan.
Adam was punished for saving Daegus' life against the fae queens orders. The Fae Queen punished him and took away his immortality and made him human. Adam runs into a sidhe seer, and he coerced Gabby to help him contact the Fae Queen, in order to beg for his old powers back.
Unfortunately, an old nemesis Daroc, decided that is was easier to kill Adam as a human, and so he sent hunters to murder Adam. Thus Adam figured out Daroc was trying to overthrow the queen and take seelie power. Adam had to stop him...and protect Gabby whom he'd begun to crave like no other woman before.
Gabby was a good heroine. She seemed strong, and didn't trust Adam for quite a while. But Adam seduced her with looks, cars, material things and of course but his protection/consideration for her safety. So another virgin falls for a fae. I liked Adam And Gabby but Adam outshines her by far. It's okay because Adam spans two series and he is a big character. But he has been likable in the last couple of books, so it was nice to see him as the smart mouth, wise Alec troublemaker. Adam as a human had human desires and he was thoughtful of others in a way he normally isn't. Though he was still Adam in many ways.
This was sweet and a tad cheesy at the end...but that's how I like it. This is my 2nd favorite book, after book 2. I am looking forward to finishing this series soon.
