Publisher's summary

With his long, black hair and dark, mesmerizing eyes, Adam Black is Trouble with a capital T. Immortal, arrogant, and intensely sensual, he is free to roam across time and continents in pursuit of his insatiable desires. That is, until a curse strips him of his immortality and makes him invisible, a cruel fate for so irresistible a man. With his very life at stake, Adam's only hope for survival is in the hands of the one woman who can actually see him.

Enter law student Gabrielle O'Callaghan. For Gabrielle, cursed with the ability to see both worlds, Mortal and Faery, it is the beginning of a long, dangerous seduction. But as Adam's quest to regain his immortality plunges them into a world of timeless magic, the price of surrender could be their very lives. Unless they can thwart the conspiracy that threatens both Mortal and Faery realms...and give them a shot at a destiny few mortals ever know: glorious, wondrous, endless love.

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

Critic reviews

"Moning excels at crafting sexy, brawny and brainy Scotsmen, and Adam Black in his Highland blacksmith glamour is one of the best. There's enough sexual tension here to fuel half a dozen normal romances." ( The Contra Costa Times)
"Nonstop action for fans of paranormal romance: another lusty fantasy from Moning." ( Kirkus)

Phill Giantee at his best

The narrator is simply amazing!
He is the sole reason I listen to the series
The story is predictable and mediocre romance with typical damsel in distress heroine .
The sex scenes are typical cheap cliche over the top
And actually , the book would be better without them

But Phill Giantee with is narration actually makes it sound funny
Very entertaining listen that makes house chores more bearable

My first 3 stars review for Moning

Well...where shall I start?? Before getting the book, a lot of the reviews mentioned our dearest Mr. Gigante :) woooo.... yes! OMG! What is that? The voice he gave Adam Black! 'Nuff said here guys... LOL

I had a feeling that Moning was going to transform our blackest one into something... haha....which is ok, you know, all that story that love conquers all, love changes, bla bla bla....So, I was not resistant to his becoming a more romantic, less cold hearted guy, start to fall in love with some special girl. I was even ok with her not belonging to a career path that could benefit the story plot in one way or another... I did get repetitive with the twins's wives.

I did think it had a good story, though I confess that it could have been better, based on the level of the series, this one has come a little short. I didn't mind the reference to his "hard on" for quite a long part of the chapters... (mentioning this because I read quite a few reviews saying this disgusted them!), it was just part of the story, that's all.

I was sooo into the whole story that I actually made time to listen to it outside my commuting audiobook time (about 1 1/2 round trip to college everyday).... just to have that gooosh of disappointment fill my heart when I realized Moning was going to make him abdicate his "fairy" life and become human. THAT WAS MY DEAL BREAKER!And I finished the book, of course, I mean just a few minutes to the end....

In the epilogue, we learned that Adam Black was made mortal, however, still not supposed to have a soul (in fact, reason why he was made mortal, instead of Gaby made immortal, because the human immortal soul is incompatible with the immortal body. And Adam Black refused to take Gaby's soul away from her. He would rather live a happy human life (souless for him) and be forever soul-separate, since she has a soul and therefore, they would go to different places after they died. THEN WHAT THE HECK??? AT THE VERY END WE LEARN THAT THE IMMORTAL FAIRY MADE SOULESS HUMAN ALL FOR LOVE, HAD "GAINED" A SOUL!!!!! AND THEY WOULD LIVE HAPPY EVER AFTER, IMMORTALS FOR REAL (MAKING MENTION TO THE SOUL, AS THEY USED THE DRUIDS SOUL BINDING VOWS)...... If the story was gonna have this kind of twist, why not make her immortal, and then come up with something sparkling twisting the end like that???

But make Adam Black a simple human man?? Seriously?? Agh....that just didn't do for me! I'm giving 4 stars for the sake of the entire series, that is one of my fave along with BDB, 5 stars for GIGANTE :) and ..... I mean, my only problem was that Adam Black was too special to be made human, so only 3 stars for the story. Anyways.... Sorry bout the ranting yall.... lol

Swoon! Most romantic ending award!

That wily Adam Black gets a full story of his own! He’s finally done it - he’s pissed off Queen Aoibheal to the point where she’s taken Adam’s magic, left him to fend for himself in the human realm, but made him invisible to humans. Unfortunately, she’s also made him a target of his most vicious enemies of the Tuatha Dé Danaan.
Adam travels to Cincinnati for help from his son, Circenn, where he and his wife Lisa sometimes visit her family.
Gabrielle O’Callaghan’s family have quietly lived in Cincinnati for generations, where they are “off the beaten path” for most Tuatha Dé Danaan. Important when you’re a Sidhe-Seer who can see them and might get kidnapped and killed.
Adam and Gabrielle have to travel to Scotland to request Drustan and Dageus’ help in contacting Queen Aoibheal to warn her of these enemies, who also threaten her.
In cursing Adam with the féth fiada, Aoibheal didn’t imagine losing him to her enemies, but she especially didn’t imagine losing him to love.
I don’t know about the final Fever book coming out in June, 2020, but Adam does make one appearance in that series, when Jericho’s crew gets him to Dublin for a consult.

Gigante does a phenomenal job of narration! His Adam Black is the perfect blend of masculine and mischief and self-satisfaction - you can actually hear it in his voice!
Recommend! (Book, this series & Fever series)
