Publisher's summary

The world of Harmony has its wonders, one of them being Rainshadow Island. Just beneath its surface, a maze of catacombs hides a dangerous secret….

Halloween - with its tricks and treats - is a dust bunny's dream come true. Just ask Lyle, Sedona Snow's faithful sidekick. But for Sedona, it's a nightmare. Though her new job managing a small hotel and tavern on Rainshadow is helping her move on from her tragic past, a bizarre disaster down in the catacombs has brought a pack of rowdy ghost hunters to her inn. And now, Sedona's ex has arrived on the island, claiming he wants to get back together, just as a newcomer appears to have a strong interest in her. Cyrus Jones is the new Guild boss in town. He has his own agenda when it comes to Sedona, but even the best-laid plans are no match for the passion that springs up on Rainshadow.…

Dust Bunnies and Rainshadow mysteries

Ok, I’m hooked on the dust bunnies. They’re definitely a selling point for me in Castle’s books. Lyle is Sedona Snow’s companion and best friend and helps her escape an underground testing facility. They move to Rainshadow Island and are happy blending in with the misfits. Cyrus Jones comes to establish a Guild presence and act as head. Sparks fly, attraction grows, they protect each other while investigating the underground catacombs and unexpected visitors to the island. I also enjoy the links to her other books: Snow and Jones are both descendants of previous characters in Krentz books; and that darned formula has popped up again. I also like that family is BIG in Krentz/ Castle/ Quick books.
I really miss Bean as narrator; Rosenblat feels too needful to impress us with her amazing thespian talents. The best narrators blend into the story.

It's a Perfect 10!

It's the book I've enjoyed the most in a very long time! It's a perfect balance between romance, comedy and action and sci-fi. And the narrator is brilliant! You will not waste your time with this one.

Love Jaye in all her styles

Story is excellent. Visiting Rainshadow is always fun. I prefer Barbara Rosenblat to Joyce bean as a narrator. The excellence of the writing is what keeps me listening again and again.

One of my all time favorites

Love these Rainshadow Island Future fantasy novels 1) Canyons of the Night; 2) Lost Night; 3) Deception Cove; 4) Hot Zone; & 5) Siren’s Call. These are light, quirky, with great sense of humor and strong male/female characters and HEAs. Read reads to decompress after shutting off the news. Castle has an entire series.

I’m in love with Dust Bunnies!!

Hey, yes this is a favorite. How could you not like a Halloween Story. We covered so many bases in this story. We have madness and a secret formula, A Crystal Forest 🌳, and a mystery. What’s not to like? Yes, I liked this book fun and relaxing listen.

Can't go wrong with a Jayne Castle story

Any additional comments?

Barbara Rosenblat is an excellent actor/narrator. She doesn't overdo.

Her heroine sounds like an adult, not a flirty, dingy girl. Her "men's" voices sound like men, not sixteen-year-old boys.

I truly enjoy listening to anything Barbara narrates.
