Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.
Featuring what may be the first love triangle involving only two bodies, The Host is a riveting and unforgettable novel that will bring a vast new readership to one of the most compelling writers of our time.

I've read/listened to all of Stephanie Meyer's books. By far this is the number one for me. The story is incredible as well as the performance by Kate Reading.
I have to say, Eden is by far my favorite. Because of his compassion and the way he ends up in the story.
This one is the best.
I had it all! Laughed and cried. Even after listening to it over 50 times.
It is just a great book.
This was a very interesting book. It’s very different from the Twilight Saga. The story is very good and the ending is great. But there are a few parts of the book that don't really seem necessary and bits and pieces that don't connect. I enjoyed the narration and thought that the way it was read was great! Great book for a great imagination!
I consider any book in audio format to be better than a print version for me personally because I commute over an hour to school every day so having an audiobook playing keeps me from falling asleep.
I loved Wanderer. Her non-violent spirit was really touching and to have her be so opposed to violence was a wonderful contrast to the human counterparts in this story.
Kate did an excellent job narrating all the characters. Her voice didn't distract or take away from the story at all.
I have to admit there were some times I had to stop listening, like when the humans were really mean to Wanderer. Some of the parts in the book were really frustrating to sit through, so no I had to have some time away from the book so I wouldn't get too upset.
Meyers writing style has improved dramatically from her Twilight days. I was really surprised in the leap her skill has taken. I don't know why this book hasn't received as much attention as the Twilight series because it is written twice as well as those books...
I love audible. I discovered it as a solution to my long drive (30mi each way) back and forth to work. This is my down time after work.
Give me more!
I can't divulge my favorite moments without spoilers. Personally, I hate reading reviews with spoilers. Cliche - but the best part is the end when the final decisions are made.
All were great. Kate is a great narrator. The characters were delineated, clear and unique.
The film is already in production and is due to come out summer 2013.
Its about time that Meyer breaks out of her Twilight mold.
Mother of three, grand-ma to my sweet baby.
Like so many things out there this was not a waste of time. Truly gets you involved with the characters, and how they feel.
Ian O'Shea. He embodies what the human race should be, loved his character development.
Can't tell, it would spoil the book. Sorry...
I am always a little scared of wasting a credit, SO NOT the case with this one. I started listening to it again to hear anything I may have missed. I just did not want to walk away from this book. The reader was fantastic, the way she would breathe life into the characters. I did think it started out a little slow and if I was just sitting down to read this book I my have stopped after the 2nd or 3rd chapter. So glad I saw my nieces Facebook post on how great this book was. Well worth the credit and time.
I have read the book three times, and listened to the audio just as many. The characters, the story line...its the whole package! I haven't heard much more about a movie, but I am anticipating the movie; almost as much as the next book by Stephenie Meyer!
After the Twilight series I thought I'd find another easy read and likable characters, not so here.
The narration is fine its the story line that leaves something to be desired, a clear plot for example.
A good idea, but the execution on this tale was sad at best.
This book was amazing! It really puts humanity into perspective. Somehow, the allien, Wanderer, seemed to be more humane than the real humans. I loved Kate's narrating. She really kept me interested in the story with her great story telling. I recommend this book! Great job Stephenie and Kate!
Perhaps. It was engrossing but very lengthy.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Scenes between Wanda and Ian; Wanda and Jamie.
When Wanda made the decision to leave and told the others--that whole section.
This was a very different book than I had expected it to be. Much more cerebral.
