Publisher's Summary

Take the leap.

She's got her feet planted on the ground. He'll teach her to fly.

Jessica, a curvy, driven, neat-freak lawyer is ecstatic when she finally gets her dream job - even though it's taking her away from her hometown. When she meets over-the-top, man-mountain Mikey, a fitness buff and veterinarian with a messy life in all senses of the word, she thinks she just walked into the second-most exciting adventure of her life.

His larger-than-life personality fascinates her, but also shakes the foundations of her quiet, introverted self, knocking her off-kilter. It's a bad idea to let him take her on as a weight-loss client. It's an even worse idea to get involved with him since he's her manwhore roommate...and she's seen him in action.

If they give into their undeniable attraction, is it just a train wreck waiting to happen? Or will their desire fuel a chance at real love?

If you love steamy romance, be sure to check out the fourth standalone in the Giving You series.

    "Insightful and fun"

When I began listening to this book, I did not expect the story to be as mind provoking as it turned out to be. Leslie McAdam has interwoven a romance with real life issues, making you think while you read. The story of Jessica and her life's fight with her weight and how she learned to deal with it was well written and thought provoking. Her decision to move from her family and in with Mikey was life changing. First impression of Mikey..manwhore who loves heavyset women turns out to have secrets and depth. His encouragement and love towards Jessica brought to life that you can't judge a book buy it's cover. These characters are well developed and you can't help but love them.

I especially liked the fact that these two flawed characters were able to work through their problems, both separately and together. This book includes the useful tools of outlets that are available to you when you need help to get through issues like weight or alcoholism. Definite good read.

This is my first listen of a book narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. This duet narration was well done. I especially loved Tor Thom's voice, I found his narration to include great emotions throughout, from happy to sad, sexy to frustrated. Charley Ongel was also very good, though sometimes I thought she sounded a little young for the character.

    "Oh so Good!!!"

This is the first book by Leslie McAdam that I have listened to. I loved this duet narration! Both Tor Thom and Charley Ongel added so much emotion and depth to the story. Being overweight I related Jessica's battle and feelings, although I am much older than she is. Tor Thom's voice was like chocolate to my ears (yes I am dieting while writing this). This is a standalone listen and part of a series. I really enjoyed this book and will look at the others in the series. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrators, and/or publisher. I loved Mikey's attitude to help heal Jessica. The humor in this book was laugh out loud at times. Another endearing feature of this book was the menage of animals that lived with Mikey.

    "My Two Pennies"

I'm actually giving this story a 4.5, we're faced with serious matters wrapped into a beautiful story. The narration is spot on you will be warm, toasty and turned on listening without a doubt. Tor Thom's voice is just so damn swoon worthy and Charley makes you feel as if you're Jessica, a woman that is self conscious about her weight, yes she is what the doctors consider obese but to those around her she is gorgeous. She does have an issue with using good as her escape for both good and bad events in her life and that just breaks my heart. Mikey is said to be a "man-whore" but there's so much more to this man than meets the eye, Mikey is dealing with his own battles ever single day that will never fade and let him move past. There's an undeniable attraction between these two but stays at a roommate level but for how long?. This was a beautifully written heartfelt and sexy read and I highly recommend you one click your copy. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

"4.5 The Ground Beneath Our Feet"

    Mikey & Jessica

This story was fantastic; it is real and touching and makes you really think.

Books that you can relate to are the best kinds I think. I may not be able to relate to Mikey or what he is going through. But I sure can feel for everything he is dealing with. Him taking responsibility like he does makes me like him a whole heck of a lot. Also totally loved, that he was this big tattoo’s fella who has this incredible heart for animals. Swoon!

Jessica is who I relate to, one she is curvy. CHECK.
She deals with her emotions by over eating. Now that I don’t relate with. But her struggle is something I relate with CHECK.

But herself image, CHECK. That is something a LOT of women deal with and can relate too. We see ourselves or parts of our body that we need to be a shammed of. Who would want to love that, if we can’t love ourselves?

I loved that even though it was a struggle Jessica fights through all the under lying issues. She really wants to get better mentally and physically, even if I personally think her body wasn’t the problem.

I loved that Mikey saw Jessica for who she is and not for the size of her body.

If you have read any of Leslie’s other books … Will is my favorite… I can’t help it, cowboys’ need I say more. LMAO…

But Tor in this audiobook.. SWOON.. That voice.. I am not a blusher, he made me blush! Ok ok .. So I am a blusher but NOT from a voice! That deep, raspy maleness.. Just Yeahhh..
Ok and we need to talk about Charley now… I enjoyed all her female voices. From her Jessica voice, to her mom, to Cherry. Though sometimes the s’s on the end of her words were getting to me.
Loved this book, Read it, Recommend it!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

"A wonderful story and a very sexy narration!!"

The Ground Beneath Our Feet is a wonderful story of two people finding each other and overcoming their personal obstacles. Jessica is very relatable in her personal journey regarding her self image and ways of coping. And Mikey is an over the top man who goes after what he wants..... Which is Jessica!

Now the narration of the book was off the chart sexy and sinful! I think that I have found my new favorite male narrator. I also loved the duel narration through out the book, where the male narrator speaks all male parts and the female narrator speaks all female parts.

I highly recommend this author and both narrators!

"Wonderful Story! Narration is hot as sin."
What did you love best about The Ground Beneath Our Feet?

What an amazing story: brilliant writing, complex characters, unexpected turns, and sizzling narration

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Ground Beneath Our Feet?

The sexting scene! OMG. I listened again and again.

Which character – as performed by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel – was your favorite?

Mikey! I listened last night before bed. I woke up saying "Mikey" in a cold sweat.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The emotional intimacy, esp. when Mikey owned his own vulnerability. Your past does not determine your present.

    Any additional comments?

Candid comment: the voice of the male narrator is simply sinful. SINFUL. If you are listening alone, relaxed, and in the mood, do not be surprised if you find yourself wearing fewer clothes with a smile on your face. I am not saying that was my experience... ;) If it happens to you, you were warned. Big Kiss! Thank you, Leslie, Tor, and Charley.

This is my first book by Leslie McAdams and listening to the audio version narrated by The Thom and Charley Ongel was indeed an experience. Both of them did an excellent job with the story and brought a range of emotions which had me hooked on every word. I really enjoyed it and would recommend this to everyone.

    "Sweet Story"

I enjoyed the story though at times it felt more like a weight loss story than a love story. I felt a connection to Jessica throughout the book with her struggles with her weight, body image and emotional eating. I did however think she could be judgemental and whiney. Mikey is an awesome character and the secondary characters were very enjoyable!!

    "Beautiful Story, Wonderful Narration"

This book is beyond gorgeous! It’s romantic and sexy, intense and touching, honest and raw. Jessica stole my heart! Her strength and determination to conquer a behavior pattern that has been her safety net for years is inspirational. Accepting Mikey’s help is a huge step since guys like him don’t look twice at big girls like her. But Mikey can barely keep his hands off of his beautiful new roommate. Mikey may ooze confidence, compassion and sex appeal but there is a darkness that haunts him. The heart of this beautiful story brings to light our tendency to love, accept, and forgive others far easier than we love, accept and forgive ourselves.
Leslie McAdam is a spectacularly talented writer. The characters she creates, the stories they tell, the way they hand us their hearts... always resonate with me in some way.
And this audio version...Wow! I’ve listened to other audio books by these performers and find their acting and delivery to be truly wonderful. They are extremely talented, versatile and take great care to convey the author’s intentions. Which they did to perfection in their performance of The Ground Beneath Our Feet.
