Publisher's summary

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison - a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against - an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

Swept Away

This incredibly wonderful storyline is well written. Fantastic character development. The Narration makes you feel as though you are truly a spectator and part of the story.

Great Book

This is my favorite book! I never have time to read anymore so this was so amazing to have it read to me! The voices given to the characters were a little off putting, but overall the reader did a great job. I can’t wait to listen to my next book!

Great book--narration not so good

This author is one of my favorites and this book possibly my favorite of her historical era genre, But the narration left a lot to be desired. The main character should sound like someone in her late teens. This sounded like an older woman and the male voice impressions were awful. Instead of sounding like tough men they sounded like octagenarians.

Garwood reigns supreme!

Garwood’s Highland books are in the RE-read category for me! Humor, warmth and admirable characters are a standard. I am always a bit sad to reach the final chapter.

Fun story

I own this book but have not read it in several years. I truly enjoyed listening to the story. My eyes get tired so Audio books work best for my. I enjoy everything Julie Garwood writes.

Love it!

I’ve read all of Julie’s books at least 3 times. This is one of the best. The narration is good but not great. Definitely won’t keep me from listening to it again.

Delightful

I liked the narrator a lot. The hero was a little bit over the top but the heroine was sweet. Delightful story.

Funny moments

Granted it is soppy, unbelievable in places and caused an eye roll or two, but quite an enjoyable listen. Had a few chuckles. It takes a few minutes to get used to the style of reading, but the voices are good.

Funny--Entertaining!

A light enjoyable read/listen. Some of the dialect, etc. is a little far-fetched for the time period, but I found myself smiling a lot, and even laughed out loud. Likeable characters, and great performance by Rosalyn Landor.

In my opinion it would be a better fit under "fantasy", but whether a true depiction of the time era, or not, it was entertaining.

Rosalyn Landor was the perfect choice to narrate this book.

I would recommend it.
