Publisher's summary

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison - a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against - an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

Another Julie Garwood winner

this is a historical romance, and a lot of fun. The follow-up book, The Wedding, is just as good.

A "Page turner"

If you could sum up The Bride in three words, what would they be?

story never lags

What other book might you compare The Bride to and why?

Much like Scandal's Bride - brought together by outside forces the heroine and hero develop a happy and lasting bond after a series of adventures and mis-adventures. Both set in Scotland and England, mid millennium, they portray the society of their time and the eternal truths of human interaction. Both are books to be bead more than once.

Which scene was your favorite?

The healing of the gravely wounded Angus.

Any additional comments?

The narrators in both add greatly to the telling, Character's voices are well delineated by tone and accents. Much more a dramatization than a reading. You are drawn in to the story you feel as well as hear.

Great narrator!

I love Julie Garwood books, and the narrator did such a wonderful job with the Scottish burr that it really brought the story to life. Even the whiny voice of Mary was done well.

Outstanding job!!!

LOVED IT!!!!

I really did love it in fact I lost my mp3 player in the middle of part 2 and had to go out and get another one that day, just so I could hear the end !! Those Scottish lairds are so passionate. Alec definitely qualifies as one of my favorites!

Always a favorite

I've read the book and listened to the narration SO many times over the years. It's always just a cute story and a good escape from some of the heavier or more intense books.

Narration is good! Accented but not distractingly so. Female voice for male narration sometimes too light (mainly when going back and forth) but she generally does a good job distinguishing.
