Publisher's summary

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison - a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against - an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

Love Julie Garwood and Rosalyn Landor

I really enjoyed this book and Shadow Music and would LOVE to listen to more of Garwoods books but so disappointed in the voice of the other narrator! Even the samples are hard to listen too. Once you hear Rosalyn Landor you just can't go back!

Classic highland romance

I actually laughed outloud, smiled and cried several times throughout this story. It is excellent.

Excellent narration, nice, witty, sweet story

Would you listen to The Bride again? Why?

I generally do not repeat books, but this was a funny, well told story, so who knows!!

What other book might you compare The Bride to and why?

I'd say it is a great historical romance story, which for a change shows the heroine to be a strong willed, intelligent woman with an opinion, in a male dominated society where wives are considered property. I appreciate Jamie for being able to command respect and adoration from men who value their horses more than their wives. I have read quite a few historical romances, but this one is better than most I'd say.

What about Rosalyn Landor’s performance did you like?

I loved her accent, her ability to express both male and female voices nicely, and her ability to bring out accurately the wit and banter in sentences.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was not necessarily moved anywhere, but I'd say it was a light hearted, romantic, good listen, with thankfully no trash language and sordid love scenes.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to people who are looking for romance novels with sophisticated, good language, and strong characters.

The Bride by Julie Garwood

First time I have writen a review but I just wanted to write to say how much I enjoyed this book, fun, romantic and you listen to it with pleasure. The narrator was excellent. Visited the Scotish Highlands myself this year and it was fun to revisit them in this book. I would certainly listen to another book by Julie Garwood

When she settled in.I think not.She conquered him!

Funny, Sexy, with hero and heronine going head to head then throw a kilt on it=magic! There are several Audio versions of the bride. I recommend Rosalyn Landor as the reader over the 1989 version. I love reading Garwoods "The Bride" but Landor actually adds more with her voice. Landors voice carries with ease all the characters. I love my audio book and I'm sure you will love it also

Nicely narrated.

Normally this is not my type of book. A little too erotic, but the author captured the flavor of the era and kept my interest. The narrators were great and I might consider listening to more of this authors books. I only wish that more time would had been devoted to the development of all the characters of the book.
