Publisher's summary

In New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands' captivating romance, a lass targeted by an unknown foe is saved - and seduced - by a bold Highlander

Edith Drummond owes her life to Niels Buchanan and his brothers. Waking after an illness to a castle overrun by rugged Highlanders is disconcerting, but so is learning that she's slowly being poisoned. Niels insists on staying by her side, and Edith soon discovers that even more dangerous is her wild attraction to the fierce warrior.

Niels has never met a more courageous - or enticing - woman than Lady Edith. The idea of such a bonny lass being forced to enter a nunnery is more than any red-blooded Scotsman could bear. He'll gladly marry her himself. But while sweeping her off her feet is easy, it'll take all his skill to defeat her family's relentless enemies and convince her to surrender to his sweet embrace....

Needs a different reader

The book itself is a good enough read -typical Lynsay Sands writing if you’re familiar. This particular book has never been a favorite of mine in this series and she tends to use too many modern terminology in her dialogue. However it’s still a decent story and I read it anyway since it’s part of the series.

The big problem here is the man reading it for audible. I don’t often leave reviews beyond stars, but the way this man is reading the story is horrible enough that I had to write something. First of all, when he’s not doing character voices he sounds incredibly bored. Which, I get that someone might just want the money from reading and doesn’t care if it’s a romance or whatever else, but at least try to make an effort. Not only does the voice sound bored but it sounds like an old timey radio show host from the 30’s. I actually had to stop listening because his reading drove me insane.

Always a pleasure.

I thoroughly enjoy these characters and look forward to more tales of their loves and friendships. Also liked a male narrator for a change :)

Another fabulous book

This was exciting and the end was unexpected. Throughout the story I kept thinking I knew who did what but boom surprise after surprise.

I'm loving the series

I do like the whole series, but the stories are all a lot alike. There are an awful lot of "crooked smiles" and "grimaces" though. I find myself thinking up other ways the author could have described smiling, though.

Love this Heartwarming Series!

I've loved all the books in this series so far, but this one made me laugh out loud! There's a scene -- you'll know it when you read it -- so hilariously funny and cute! Edith and Niels are a great couple. I haven't read all the books in this series yet, but so far a favorite aspect -- I absolutely love it -- is that the main characters decide they like each other early in the books. They don't profess insta-love. They're friends first, and it's lovely to see the friendships develop and the respect they have for each other. But my point is that the conflicts in the stories come from outside forces, not because of power plays or bickering. And it's great to stay in touch with all the characters as the series moves forward.

Thank you, Lynsey Sands!

And since this review is based on the audio version, hats off to a great narrator, Sean William Doyle!

Suspenseful

I am one of those people that can figure out a mystery in the beginning of every story. This was truly a good suspenseful story until the end. I highly recommend this book.
