Publisher's summary

"I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.

"Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.

"I'd been warned about Strays (werecats without a Pride) that are constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.

"This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever and whoever I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays, 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them."

Fantastic read!

I absolutely LOVE the entire Werecat Series. Rachel Vincent has created a seducing world that 'lies just beneath the surface' of our real one. It is believable, inventive, full of intrigue, and consistently exciting. I have been placing her 'scheduled release' dates in my calendar so I have the next book as soon as it arrives! Faith is a likeable & rebellious character with honorable morals and her story, life, and relationships are ALL interesting! Can't wait for the next book in March of 2010! *There are sex scenes - not frequent or overly prolific (more romantic in nature) but still detailed & I recommend the reader be at least 18.

Stray

Faythe has such a headstrong and will to live she really made me love this listen.
The Pride doesn’t have a lot of Females so when one is born they kind of dote on them. But Faythe doesn’t want that she wasn’t to be treated like one of the guys, she doesn’t want to be told what to do or how or with who. But it's not really how the Pride work. So she gets her freedom for a little while but has to come back because some of the females have gone missing.

I love that she was so herself and yes she goes head to head with the Alpha aka her father but they come to an understanding of sorts throughout this book and it is an interesting dynamic.

Marc is the love interest, and as much as Faythe doesn’t want to be tied down their connection is too strong.

Faythe for me seemed soo bada-ss, but I also think she is scared, scared to end up like her mother with a bunch of kids and her life as just a Pride female. But what she didn’t see is her dad kind of has other plans. I loved the whole book even more with each listen.

The narration for me was fantastic I loved that she doesn’t sound too old or too young and she sounded confident which is how I see Faythe in my mind.

Third time a charm!!

This is my 3rd time beginning this series. Every couple years I get a notion and decide I want to listen to it again. So obviously I believe it's a great listen.

Incredible Read

I truly enjoyed this audiobook. I was completely captivated with Faythe's struggle to be independent and taken seriously within her clearly male dominated pride. You really understood her dilemma and felt what she was going thru. She made mistakes along the way, but you have to admit, this Tabby has great instincts! Go Faythe!

They do get better.

This is the first book in this series, and while I agree that the heroine is sometimes a whiny, selfish brat, as the series progresses, she grows up. I'm not a huge fan of the narrator. I stopped listening to the Kitty Norville series because I coudn't stand listening to this particular narrator. She sounds way too old to be the characters in the books she is reading. Her voice reminds me of the actress Wendy Malick when she is being comically dramatic and can be extremely distracting from the story. I had to get past that because I actually liked the storyline of the book. The ones I have purchased in the series so far are good stories.

Love the Werecat Concept

I enjoyed listening to this book, the narrator was wonderful in rendering the characters and their thoughts, speech, actions. I found the prides interesting and within a short time I felt a kinship with the main pride. The female lead is refreshingly strong and feminine. What I would like to have experienced was a more in depth, vicarious involvement "as part of the pride" in their werecat form. I am hoping to find that in the sequel which I look forward to hearing!

It wasn't the worst book I ever read(listened to).

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Maybe, only if they were into those Twilight books, but for the most part no.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I struggled to finish this book. the main character was not interesting at all.

Which scene was your favorite?

ehh... none realy

Very familiar story

Ok so I’m always on the lookout for new supernatural series. All I can say about this book is while it’s decent and the narrator is good the whole time it seemed like I’d read/heard this book before. I finally figured it out about 3/4 of the way through. It’s a copycat story/plot that is a blending of Bitten and Stolen by Kelley Armstrong. Not as well written of a story or as absorbing and endearing of characters but it’s EXTREMELY similar to those two books. Not a bad book but I’m gonna try a different series now.

cat's

liked it weidly simular to Kelley armstrong bitten except with cats. the main character Faye wasn't bad and I like the fact her character grew at the end of the book disspit the amount of people she hurt along the way. I guess it true a person can be smart as hell but do stupid things all the time....can't await too see all fates mistakes come back to bite her in the but
