Publisher's summary

"I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.

"Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.

"I'd been warned about Strays (werecats without a Pride) that are constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.

"This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever and whoever I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays, 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them."

Entrancing and delightful

What did you like best about this story?

It is captivating.

Which character – as performed by Jennifer Van Dyck – was your favorite?

She did such a good job in most of the story that I forgot there was only one person doing the narrating. She conveyed the characters of Jace & Ethan very well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loud in several places.

Any additional comments?

The story held my total attention most of the way through. I missed a lot of things that happened around me while I was listening.

This could be a good series to follow

This is the story told by Faythe, a werecat that wanted to live a normal life outside the pride. She's turned her back on them, and her longtime boyfriend, Marc, for college. When other women in the pride start to disappear, her father the Alpha of the pride, brings her home for security. There she goes through much self discovery about herself, and makes many stupid choices. It's one of those books, that the heroine is most frustrating, but somehow ends up 'on top'. I found myself feeling sorry for the ex-boyfriend most of the book. She does end up with a few more brains by the end of the book, and a clear cut opening for the next of the series, but you can just stop there, if you feel you're not up to any more frustration from this heroine. I will most likely read or listen to all of them, having peeked forward through the reviews. Will wait awhile though, cause I feel this heroine will frustrate me to no end.

Terrific Series

The characters in this book are great! It is not your typical all is well that ends well. You really get to see the characters become more complex as the book progresses. Great narrator as well!

Does not fully use the potential of the storyline

I bought this book based on a preview of another Vincent book. She has interesting ideas and creates interesting worlds. But then populates them with high school stereotypes. Strong men that would rather punch out a wall than show emotion, skinny weakling pushovers, and evil raping womanizers. The women are all "strong and independent" but eventually have to find a man to be happy. They don't want any attention until they don't have it and then desperately need it. I kept hoping for it to get better and it never did.

Grate story and eager to hear the rest!

I've seen some people not like this book because a main character seems childish and irresponsible. But that's kind of the point at the beginning.
This book is not for someone who doesn't want to understand somebody else's perspective.

This is a great story about a girl with an inhuman ability that is struggling with wanting her own life and decisions, and not just a life and decisions that other people have decided for her and set in place pretty much before she was even born.

There are a lot of things in her mind that she's running from and not accepting and not understanding at the beginning, Yes making mistakes but that's the point. She learns and grows through traumatic experiences and family confrontation.

I very much recommend this book it is intriguing I can't wait to finish the series and see how it all ends!!

( This book does have some graphic content so I wouldn't read it if you're squirmish )

A bodice ripper

I have nothing against sex but there was just too much almost and angst about the heroine getting laid to make for a good read.
I read medicine bottle labels in the restroom if there is nothing else so for me to gat turned off on this one it was way over the top.

It was ....

Ok, so I had a few issues with this book. The first was the narrator. The way she speaks make everything sound snotty and kinda uppity. The writing was good, but sometimes I had to stop and rewind because the author liked to throw a lot of explanations in the middle of a conversation. I would forget what the last character said, and would have to go back. Maybe it was my fault, since I listen to books while working, but I've never had this much of a problem before. I do agree that the main character is really immature for her age. At one point she is dumb founded that her father wanted to teach her responsibility. She just can't seem to believe it. Really? Personally, I wouldn't leave the main character in charge of my rock collection. Probably won't go for the second book in the series.

omg...why??

I struggled with this one. Every tiny thought and behavior was drawn out of this character causing so much boredom.... Very slow.

Intriguing!

Very moving and graphic. Strong female lead. Trigger warning for violence and mention of rape.

Very good narration and accents.
