    "A FAIRYTALE WITH A DIFFERENCE"

The author delivered on so many levels and gave an enchanting paranormal listen that told of the battle between the mythological tricky Welsh Fae and a loveable Celtic hero ensnared by them into the form of a Grim (Mastiff dogs and omens of death) for a millennium ..... until he sees Megan who literally transforms his life.

Megan, a Vet, doesn't believe in magic or the realm of the Fae even tho her Grandmother told her plenty of stories about them, and so when an Ancient, tattooed, drool-worthy naked Warrior called Rhys eventually lands on her doorstep (some girls have all the luck) she is attracted to him (well hello who wouldn't be) but she just doesn't believe his outlandish tale, thinks him insane and keeps him at arms length.

Rhys asks her for trust and to have faith in him but she stubbornly rejects him and his story but he, being a true hero type, is patient, thoughtful and kindly stays at her Ranch doing lots of odd jobs for her whilst all the time trying to entice her (what about me, me, me I believe you). This is where the story (for me) becomes irritating as Megan continually rejects him whilst still being attracted to him and no matter what he does or says it's still never enough for her.

It was an entertaining, touching, tender, funny, fast paced fantastical delightful listen with some dramatic, frightening, violent moments too and, with the inclusion of some great secondary characters, it was a very enjoyable listen and the description of the Fae's Wild Hunt was awesome. However, despite the sexy start, the romance was very slow to develop..... but it was eventually worth the wait.

Worth the credit? It definitely would have been YES but, as I've said before, anything under $10 then I just buy it and save my credit for a more costly listen.

"A little all over the place......"

Storm Warrior was good but missed great by quite a bit. There were too many plots going on simultaneously.....the steamy sex scenes seemed as though they belonged to another book. The Highland Warrior from 2000 years ago wasn't plausible - even the central character didn't buy it.....she ended up seeming shallow and sappy - how did she make it through Vet school? The magic was good - the final conflict was well done.
If you want Highland Warrior - read The Secret and if you want Fae read the Fairwick Trilogy......
Not moved enough to invest in the sequel.......

I never thought I would root for a non bad boy hero, but Reece so did it for me. He had all the fixings for a bad boy hero and yet he constantly took the high road.
    Good on you fella!

    "Barely just okay."

This was just okay, barely. I was glad when it was over. I thought this book had so much more potential. The author seemed to have lost her imagination. The heroine was so closed minded for someone who's grandmother pounded the impossible in her mind her whole life. The author in the beginning makes you think the heroine will believe in other beings or creatures or whatever, but noooooo she has to go into complete denial and not believe a darn thing. The ending was abrupt and dull, the middle mediocre and somewhat boring at times.

The sex happened one time for real (not in her dreams) and it was a quickie in horse stall.
There was plenty of dialogue which was good.

The narration was fine, its Justine Eyre so you know what your getting. The same voices as usual.

Credit worthy? not really. Find something better there are plenty of much better books to read or listen too.

    Any additional comments?

Morgan doesn’t understand why only she can see the dog, but he is there none the less. There is something unearthly about him and the way he always is around. But after coming home from her holiday the last thing she ever expected was for the same dog to save her life.

Rhys made a choice and that choice is Morgan. Even in his Grim state he knows he is bound to Morgan and vows to protect her no matter what. Even by defying the very creatures that bound him. But in doing so Rhys has brought more trouble than expected to Morgan’s quiet little farm.

Dani wrote a great story and Justine Eyre brought the characters to life for me. I have to say that love Justine as a narrator and have yet found a book she has read that I didn’t like.
Okay back to Storm Warrior. I loved the world that Dani created in this book. Fae, Grims, humans. It was all very interesting and I am already looking forward to the next book in this series.

    "Storm Warrior"

I think this would have made a much better short story, it just kind of limped along, after the intro with Morgan in Whales and spotting Rhys as the "Grimm" and then seeing him again when she returns home, the beginning was good and engaging but then it just kind of limps along...there was a bit of action with the slaying of a monster.....then Morgan being and idiot.....then a bit more with the introduction of Ranyon...more of Morgan being a closed minded idiot and more of same, and the only "big event" to happen was at the end.

I know it sounds like I did not like it, I did enjoy it but I spent the entire time listening just waiting for something to happen. I think a lot of Morgan's disbelief and some of the "every day" type stuff could have been minimized and with a shorter story it would have flowed better.

So I think I would actually give this 3.5 stars but not the kind of 1/2 that I would round up to four.

If you could sum up Storm Warrior in three words, what would they be?

the Wild Hunt. good use of a paranormal outline. If you like paranormal, this is for you.Light listen, which can make you feel good while you do your routine stuff.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

not make all of the clues come in the last 20 mins, but this is not a complaint. a good use of imagination with all the paranormal stories to select from.

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

this is a good one from her. I am not sure if she is brit as her british accents are so very ez for her. this story is right up her ally and well perform.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

nice good listen for the $...leaves you with a good feeling. Good use of friendship, respect as well as love in the story.

    Any additional comments?

I am now on to the 2nd story I purchased as these are a very good spend.

"Wonderful start to a Modern Celtic Myth series"

For anybody who follows my reviews, you know I love mythology in all forms, this is a delightful turn into Celtic myth. They had the first fae stories and their fairies were far from the sweet versions we see today. They are beautiful but cruel creatures who one should always tread lightly around. Best not to have them take notice of you!

The beginning of the story is rocky as it sets up our hero's past, we get a little too much warrior detail for my liking. Rhys has had a tough life and things don't get much better for him when he comes across the fae. This section made me fall in love with him more than a little bit.

Jump forward to modern time to meet out heroine, Morgan, who believes in science and is skeptical of magic. She has a big heart and an affinity for animals. I love her spunk and moral fortitude, but I hate that she took so long to see what was right in front of her face. No matter how improbable.

The romance move at a slower pace, which surprised me cause I expected Rhys to be all Alpha, guess the time as a Grim taught him to be patient. When they do get together, oh boy, they could burn the barn down with all that hotness!!! Things get nice and spicy, sadly it was only for a scene or two.

The narrative alternates between the two leads POV. This is great because you get a fuller view of events. It definitely helps get into how Rhys is working to make the relationship work. You also feel Morgan's struggle between science and the man she has come to love.

The story flowed beautifully, great descriptions and implementation of old world myth with modern times. The cast of supporting characters are dynamic and engaging, they really help to sell the story. I might be a little in love with Leo and his new house guest!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Justine Eyre, who has a wonderful feel for the story and characters. I loved all her voices and never had trouble distinguishing who was speaking. The accents are divine, I always was a sucker for an Irish brogue! Her pace was terrific and she has a wonderful way of using her voice to add to the energy of the moment. Definitely going to look for more of her reads!!

Overall, this book as a great find. I was enthralled from the beginning and can't wait to see what happens next. I hope it is connected to this book and not a similar theme in a different location. I really did love the characters and location Ms Harper created.
